@smerconish@smerconish Economy or transfer payments? None of the above. It's the demographics. As many or more Americans are leaving the workforce as are joining the workforce. And it's going to get worse unless we start bringing in more immigrants
Except debt is good when inflation is raging. Especially debt on an appreciating asset. Maybe not cars, but reasonable leverage on some assets can be a winner. You get to pay back principal with much depreciated dollars.
@abc78806135 @LizAnnSonders@Bloomberg@IRStaxpros Estate tax= tax you didn't have to pay while you were alive. Not a tax and spend lib at all, but we are massively in the hole and need to pay down debt. Estate tax is a painless way to do that. If the Fed turns off the faucet and rates spike, watch out below.
@AdithiaKusno@LizAnnSonders Perhaps. But those earnings estimates are from 2021 base levels heavily juiced by zero interest rates and almost $3 trillion in federal stimulus. How do we maintain and grow profit levels with zero stimulus and non zero interest rates plus flat or declining workforce?
@smerconish there's an easy fix to taxing bazillionaires. Fix the estate tax and the tax avoidance measures like trusts in that parr of the code. But senators like @senwarren won't do that because it will draw attention to how mere multimillionaires like her avoid taxes.
@mbrushstocks@LizAnnSonders@Dealogic@WSJ@DougKass How do you overcome $3 trillion of stimulus in 2021 that will not repeat in 2022? Do these natural stimuli plus an allowance for natural recovery in the economy total $3 trillion? All while 5 million fewer people r working? The math doesn't seem to work even before fed action.
@SenWarren Except that's a complete lie. #climatechange is real, but time after time the scientists have overestimated the severity of the problem. Maybe a little less hot air on the topic and more facts would help reduce the greenhouse effect.
@LizAnnSonders Also, how do you go from +415k to exactly zero in leisure/ hospitality. Did someone forget to enter a data point? Seems wildly unlikely as restaurants are short-staffed everywhere. I smell a huge revision in a month or two. #roundingerror
@LizAnnSonders We are actually at/beyond full employment. Half the unemployed can't/won't go back to work due to virus. Puts true unemployment at 2,5%. With people leaving the workforce faster than entering, this trend will never reverse. But the Fed keeps printing. #unemployment#JobsReport
We can't find people for the jobs we have. Who's going to fill these jobs? Or should everyone just work for the government and government funded jobs and we'll destroy the private sector?
The science couldnโt be clearer: we need to act with urgency to stop global warming. The $3.5 trillion reconciliation package includes major investments in our clean energy future. Itโs past time we get this done. https://t.co/0FWtipksHr
@stevebr99361175@LizAnnSonders Why? I have my vaccines. According to the latest stats my odds of dying from covid are about 67% less than getting murdered. Do you stay home because you might get murdered?
@SenWarren@RepCori No, WE THE PEOPLE are in debt. And SCOTUS is going to make that debt bigger when the government is forced to compensate all these landlords.
