We are excited to announce the first preprint detailing ATLAS our next generation spatial omics technology by Co-Founders @zehemminger and @roy_wollman at @uclachem and @UCLAQCBio in collaboration with @jsb_iucla and @UCLABRAIN https://t.co/cqatJ3qF8Z
"They were looking at two worms that looked a bit funny and decided to understand why."
Sounds like a good summary of my PhD with @meera_sundaram studying rod like lethal mutants in C.elegans. Today, all worm developmental geneticists stand a little taller.
When @willryu first shared his beautiful movies of a wiggling worm, I was blown away! But how can we both accurately and with interpretability capture the posture dynamics of an animal’s behavior?
Honored to have our work on automating lineage tracing in C. elegans using DIC microscopy featured in the latest issue of Genetics!

Multiple postdocs out to academic/industry jobs + 2 grant NOAs in = open postdoc position.
Worms are great to work with, sensory biology is an endlessly fascinating topic, and we are a group of good humans. Please email if interested!
@drugmonkeyblog @LuciaScience Have you done the digging to see if the haircuts actually enable more grants to break through or enable larger and more concentrated awards? Obviously impossible to determine post-hoc, but it at least feels like a form of regressive taxation to my poor modular budgeting self
Faculty application time! Offer for 1-1 mentoring stands. I’ve talked to undergrads, faculty , and everyone in between. Email me to find a time. Especially happy to speak with people from diverse backgrounds.
@drugmonkeyblog@Aging_Scientist That's a tough question, but one worth debating. I'd say "it depends on the circumstances" but 9/10 times folks will find a way to twist "circumstances" to screw someone else over
