Two children died in a drone strike, according to locals. They were on their way home from school and seriously injured in the drone attack in Bajaur Mamund Shahi Tangi area. They died when being shifted to hospital. Hasan was 10 years old while another aged 12 years.

Petrol at Rs 30/litre in Pakistan sounds crazy. It is not. What is crazy is the policy failure that prevents it.

Petrol is around Rs 300/litre today, excluding government levy, here's how it can effectively be Rs 30/litre.

People do not consume petrol for its own sake; they use it to travel. The average Pakistani rides a motorbike. A fuel-efficient motorbike can travel about 60 km on one litre. An efficient electric scooter can travel about 30 km per kWh, so it needs only 2 kWh to cover the same 60 km.

What should 2 kWh cost in Pakistan? Pakistan is one of the best places in the world for solar, with an all-in LCOE cost of around 5 cents per kWh. The electricity cost is 10 cents, or Rs 30/litre of distance travelled! The Rs 30/litre calculation remains the same for cars.

The 300-versus-30 gap is the cost of bad policy. It reflects billions of dollars of saving that could instead finance EV infrastructure: charging, distribution, battery swapping, and smart pricing software etc. - boosting much-needed domestic investment.

Since solar is highly modular. You do not need massive scale to get reasonable efficiency. That creates business and employment opportunities for small domestic power producers. Instead, Pakistan leaned into large fossil-fuel plants financed by dollar-denominated borrowing and guaranteed returns.

Local firms face credit constraints, but solar creates a natural collateralizable cash flow through electricity sales to the grid. With the right regulatory framework, this could have unlocked large private domestic investment, and employment.

Battery swapping is another area where small local businesses could have emerged and scaled.

Electricity enables smart pricing. When solar supply is abundant, prices can fall, and poor households and firms can shift usage to cheaper hours - automatic demand stabilization

Better air quality would mean longer, healthier lives and higher productivity. That is a growth multiplier

Green technology industries could be developed domestically with the right industrial policy, easing balance-of-payments pressure while raising employment and investment.

Instead, Pakistan chose imported-fuel power plants, protected a backward-looking domestic auto sector, and raised electricity prices by burdening them with the fixed costs of those plants and heavy taxation, slowing EV adoption. Then came the net-metering fiasco, all to keep zombie power plants alive.

Pakistan’s energy policy may be the clearest example of a broken nervous system. I hope someone fixes it, because people are paying the price, 300-versus-30

🔴 I am writing this statement with deep distress and a heavy heart to bring attention to the extremely difficult circumstances I have been facing for a long time. Despite being born and raised in Pakistan, and having spent my entire life here peacefully as a law-abiding citizen, I am now being forced into a situation where I feel I have no option left but to consider leaving my own country.

Over the years, I have endured repeated harassment, intimidation, and fear without any clear accusation or legal justification. First, my family was subjected to pressure and distress, and now I myself am being targeted repeatedly. These actions have severely affected my sense of safety, dignity, and basic human rights. Living under constant uncertainty and fear without being informed of any crime or allegation against me is deeply painful and inhumane.

Pakistan is my homeland. I have lived here peacefully, worked honestly, and built my life with dignity. However, the continued treatment I am facing has made normal life impossible. I never wanted to leave my country, but the circumstances have become unbearable.

I respectfully appeal to international human rights organizations, legal advocacy groups, and relevant United Nations bodies to take notice of my situation. I am willing to cooperate fully with any fair and transparent process, and after proper review and clearance, I am seeking safe assistance to exit Pakistan if necessary for my protection and dignity.

I also want to emphasize that I am not alone in facing such circumstances. There are many others who silently endure similar hardships but cannot speak publicly about their suffering. At the very least, I have gathered the courage to speak for myself and raise my voice peacefully.

Despite having worked my entire life and built everything from nothing, I am prepared to leave empty-handed if that is what it takes to live with safety, dignity, and basic human rights.

I sincerely request the attention, support, and protection of the international community in this matter. 🙏

دوسری طرف، پاکستان میں پھنسے ہوئے مہاجرین شدید مشکلات اور غیر یقینی صورتحال کا شکار ہیں، اور کئی هزارو کو جیلوں کا سامنا بھی ہے۔ یہ مسئلہ بارڈر بند کرنے یا لوگوں کو گرفتار کرنے سے حل نہیں ہوگا، بلکہ اس کے لیے ایک واضح، انسانی اور مستقل پالیسی کی ضرورت ہے۔

انسانی زندگیاں سیاسی کھیل کا حصہ نہیں ہونی چاہئیں۔ لوگوں کو عزت، تحفظ اور پائیدار حل درکار ہیں، نہ کہ دھکے اور سزائیں۔

صحابہ نے پوچھا: ہمارے بدلے کون لوگ لائے جائیں گے؟
آپ ﷺ نے حضرت سلمان فارسی کے کندھے پر ہاتھ رکھا اور دو مرتبہ فرمایا: ”یہ اور اس کی قوم، یہ اور اس کی قوم۔“

اور مجھے ہنسی آتی ہے جب کمنٹ میں لوگ مجھ پر آوازیں کستے ہیں کہ تم شعیہ بن گئی ہو😕 حق کے ساتھ کھڑے ہونے کے لیے کسی مسلک کو اپنا لینا ضروری ہے کیا ؟؟؟ اور ویسے بھی میرا تعلق کسی مسلک سے نہیں میرے لیے کتاب اللہ اور سیرت النبی کافی ہے۔

مجھ پر آوازیں کسنے کی بجائے مان کیوں نہیں لیتے کہ ایرانی قوم اور حکومت کا ایمان آپ سے کہیں بہتر ہے کہ کم از کم بیغیرت تو نہیں ہیں ڈالروں کے لیے ماں تو نہیں بیچتے ڈٹ گئے ہیں اور جیت بھی انہی کی ہو گی ان شاءاللہ تعالیٰ

اگر یہی سلوک پنجاب کے حکمران اور پولیس کریں تو ان کی نظروں میں تو ہر پشتون قابل نفرت اور دہشتگرد ہے، لیکن خیبر پختونخوا میں اس قسم کا رویہ اختیار کیا جانا بھی انتہائی قابلِ افسوس ہے وہ بھی اس صورت میں جب وہاں ایک ایسی حکومت قائم ہے جس کی جماعت کا نام ہی “تحریک انصاف” ہے۔ کیا یہی انصاف ہے؟

اگر پاکستان تحریک انصاف کی حکومت مختلف معاملات میں بے بس ہے تو پھر سوال یہ پیدا ہوتا ہے کہ وہ خیبر پختونخوا میں حکومت میں کیوں بیٹھی ہے؟ اس مسلمان ملک میں غیر انسانی رویوں کا کوئی راستہ تو نہیں بچا ہے؟ یہ صورتحال واقعی انتہائی شرمناک اور قابلِ مذمت ہے۔
