އަމިއްލަ ނަފްސަށް އިތުބާރުކުރާ، ޢަޤީދާ ވަރުގަދަ، ރޫޙާނީ އަދި ޖިސްމާނީ ގޮތުން ދުޅަހެޔޮ، ދިވެހި ޤައުމިއްޔަތަށް ލޯބިކުރާ، ޒިންމާދާރު ޒުވާން ޖީލެއް ބިނާކުރުމަށް ކުރިޔަށް ގެންދާ ދިވެހި ވަޠަނީ ޚިދުމަތުގެ ޙަރަކާތް ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ގޮތެއްގައި ކުރިއަށް ގެންދިއުމަކީ، ސަރުކާރުގެ ޒުވާނުން ބިނާކުރުމާ ގުޅޭ އެންމެ މުހިންމު އެއް ސިޔާސަތު.

ނޭޝަނަލް ސަރވިސް ޓްރޭނިންގ ގެ 3 ވަނަ ބެޗުގައި ރާއްޖޭގެ 20 އަތޮޅުން 115 ރަށަކަށް ނިޞްބަތްވާ 64 އަންހެން އަދި 288 ފިރިހެން ޒުވާނުން ބައިވެރިވޭ.

Foreign Minister @IruthishamAdam met with Minister of External Relations of Angola Tete António during his brief transit in the Maldives.

The Minister congratulated Angola on its election to ECOSOC for 2027–2029, and discussed strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation

Since the enactment of the RTI Act in 2014, this marks the first time in the history of the Maldives that the President’s Office and all Ministries have achieved 100% compliance with proactive disclosure requirements. Information that had not previously been accessible to the public has now been made available.

Transparency is not merely a policy objective. This administration recognizes the fundamental right to information as a cornerstone of public trust and democratic governance. This is a significant step toward advancing transparency, strengthening public access to information, and increasing accountability.

As we reach this important milestone in our journey toward a more open and accountable government, I commend all institutions and public officials whose dedication made this achievement possible. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing this meaningful work and enhancing public access to government information through digital platforms, ensuring greater civic engagement in government activities and decision-making.

Today, for the first time since the RTI Act was enacted in 2014, the President’s Office and all ministries have proactively disclosed the information required under the Act.

This is a major step for transparency. Two previous administrations failed to fully comply with this legal obligation. President Dr @MMuizzu’s administration has now delivered what should have been done years ago.

🌎The #Maldives has been elected to @UNECOSOC for the 2027–2029 term, receiving 183 votes from fellow UN Member States. This marks a historic milestone as the Maldives secures a seat on ECOSOC for the first time since we became a member of the United Nations 60 years ago.

This election reflects the international community’s confidence and trust in the Maldives, and the foreign policy of President Dr @MMuizzu . It demonstrates that the voice of the Maldives resonates far beyond our shores, and that our advocacy on issues of importance to Small Island Developing States and developing countries is being heard and valued on the global stage.

I wish to congratulate all who worked on this election, especially #TeamKhaarijee across the world.

As we prepare to take our seat on #ECOSOC on 1 January 2027, we do so with pride in how far we have come and with determination to contribute meaningfully to shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and responsive global development agenda.

Today marks a proud and historic milestone for the nation as the Maldives is elected to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2027–2029 term — for the first time in our 60 years of membership at the United Nations.

This achievement reflects the trust and confidence that the international community places in our nation and in our commitment to constructive multilateral engagement.

As a Small Island Developing State, the Maldives understands firsthand the urgent challenges faced by vulnerable nations, from climate change and economic resilience to sustainable development. Our seat at ECOSOC gives us a stronger platform to advocate for the priorities and aspirations of small island developing States and developing countries around the world.

Together with our partners, the Maldives will work to strengthen international cooperation, accelerate progress on sustainable development, and shape a ECOSOC that will result in fair finance, stronger delivery, and resilient futures.

HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi received a phone call today from HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Ms. Iruthisham Adam.

During the call, bilateral cooperation relations and ways to support and strengthen them were discussed, in addition to a number of topics of common interest.

We assume this position at a pivotal moment for the international community, one that calls for renewed commitment, stronger partnerships and bold action. It is also a moment to amplify the voices and priorities of #SIDS.

The suspension will help improve market access for Maldivian sustainable tuna products in the UK, while also contributing to lower prices for consumers in the UK.

This positive development represents a shared benefit for both countries, particularly by strengthening livelihoods across our islands and improving market access for our sustainably sourced tuna, contributing to mutual economic growth .

The Maldives has long been a strong advocate for sustainable tuna fisheries, championing responsible pole-and-line fishing practices.
