3 DAYS.
That's how long Major has left. 3 days.
Major is Shane Lilly's Belgian Malinois.
In March 2025 a pickup truck hit him in Austin.
A woman, unknown to Major, was trying to lift him into a car, and the injured, scared dog bit her.
He has now spent 554 days alone in a shelter cell.
Lilly has filed a federal disability lawsuit under the ADA, saying Austin never considered Major's role as his service animal.
A judge has blocked the euthanasia.
For now.
He is supposed to rule by Thursday, Oct. 9, on whether an independent expert can evaluate Major.
Please reach out and help save Major.
Call Mayor Kirk Watson at 512-978-2100, or email [email protected].
A scared, hurt dog deserves a second chance, not a needle.

I came across this last night. Looked into it. I’m in.
Austin has a Service Dog named Major locked in a kennel for 500+ days and they still want him dead.
Truck hits the Major, Owner runs for a phone. A woman tries to move an injured animal out of the road. He bites her. Accident. Pain. Fear. That’s the whole case.
She did not press charges. She did not go after the owner. She did not want him euthanized. City did it anyway.
That’s the problem. They don’t do case-by-case. They do a broad stroke. Injury happened = kill the dog!
Doesn’t matter if Major was bleeding and injured in the street after being hit by a truck. Doesn’t matter if the person who got bit is telling you not to do this.
Accidents happen. A hurt dog reacting to a stranger is not a dog who meant to hurt or kill somebody. We know the difference. Austin is pretending they don’t.
Local people fighting this case say one of the officials in the bite chain, Rebekha Montie at Austin Animal Services, was in a 2019 dog-attack incident and severely injured as a city employee. If that’s true, she should not be anywhere near judging these files. A nip, a provoked bite, a dog that had a bad day all of it looks the same when your own scar is in the room.
That’s bias. Release the 2019 report. Recuse her if it’s her. Don’t tell me it’s “just process.”
Texas law does not require his death. Health & Safety Code 822.003: if a dog kills someone, the court shall order him destroyed. If it’s serious injury, the court may destroy or release him to the owner or another authorized person.
A trainer, Jonas Black, already agreed to take him under conditions. The court can release him. The city is the one that asked for the kill.
They can stop it!
Texas courts walked away. A federal judge temporarily blocked the euthanasia.
Next hearing: September 29, 1:30 p.m.
He is not saved.
He’s on a pause.

Tell them: no euthanasia. Conditional release to Jonas Black, a trainer who agreed to take the dog in to help. The victim isn’t asking you to kill him. The statute doesn’t require it.
Don’t sit this one out.

Lucy threw up on her bed a couple of weeks ago — the one the shelter workers gave her — and I couldn't clean it out. So I tossed it.
Today, she's curled up under the table on Madeline's hoodie. I imagine she loves it, full of the warm, familiar smell of those she loves.
It reminds me of the day after Lucy got taken, when I went to the shelter, and they wouldn't let me see her. I left a bag of stuff for her. Anything that smelled like home. Socks. Toys. I wanted her to know that we were still here.
I can close my eyes and remember the way that day felt. I can smell the shelter as I walked in. I can hear the barking. I can feel the fear that I knew Lucy felt and the shaking in my hands that I couldn't control.
A part of that sadness will remain etched inside of me forever now, as a memory. I think this is where the wisdom of age comes from.
Now, my 11-year-old dog is sleeping peacefully, curled up with another warm, familiar object, while her girls finger-paint on the table next to her and soft music plays while a fire warms the house. These are the times it is all too easy to take for granted — until they are gone.
Until they are locked in a cell.
We were blessed. We got them back. In retrospect, two months feels like a mercy. I can't help but think of the others. Snuggles. Major. Atlas. The other families that have had these moments seized from them by an overzealous and heavy-handed government. Some for over a year.
You're not just taking our dogs. You are taking this. You are taking these precious moments and throwing them in a cold, hard cell, waiting to die.
Like they don't even matter.
But they do.
It doesn't have to be like that. There is another way. Look at this photo. Maybe you'll see it.

I’m pleased to report, that Mr Fenn Church has BEATEN @alabamapower in court, and saved his land! Chalk this up as a massive WIN for the American Landowner. It was my honor to fight for this great man🇺🇸
Never forget what they did during COVID.
They arrested people on beaches, shut down businesses, forced masked on children, ordered people to show vaccine cards to get a slice of pizza.
It was inhumane and evil
Never let these people back into power.
