We are a @UNFoundation U.S. advocacy campaign fighting to give people access to vaccines and a shot at life.
We know the Ervebo vaccine is effective against the Zaire strain of Ebola. Can it also fight the current Bundibugyo outbreak in DRC?
As deaths from the current outbreak top 4,000, frontline workers are testing this question.
The process to select the next @WHO Director General is underway. Watch the full conversation to hear directly from some of the candidates about their vision for the future of global health here: https://t.co/ZgxZIVm8aw
At #UNGA81, Dr. Hanan H. Balkhy, Dr. Ji Ho Cha and Budi Gunadi Sadikin - all declared or undeclared candidates as of this discussion - shared their priorities and perspectives on some of the biggest challenges facing global health, from financial constraints and rising disease outbreaks to strengthening systems for health product pre-qualification.
Thank you to @ConcordiaSummit and @StopTB and to Dentons for hosting this conversation.
In case you missed it, health experts met on the sidelines of UNGA81 yesterday to discuss lessons learned from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) and how to finish the fight against polio.
Here are some highlights.
What happens when countries across WHO’s South-East Asia Region work together to protect communities through vaccination?
Progress towards a measles and rubella-free future, despite recent outbreaks.
The HPV vaccine is a crucial line of defense in preventing cervical cancer, which currently kills about 350,000 women annually. By increasing access to vaccines and screening, we can drastically reduce the burden of this disease.
A disease outbreak anywhere can become a threat everywhere.

Last week, @Healthfor_US/@ShotAtLife/@beatmalaria was on the ground in New Brunswick, New Jersey, for two events that spotlighted local leadership in global health.
Wednesday morning, we convened a high-level roundtable with civic and community leaders, co-hosted with Haj Shirley (Executive Director, Vaccine Equity Education Coalition), for an important round table on New Jersey's role in advancing global health programming. Participants included Dr. Raynard Washington, New Jersey State Health Commissioner; Leonardo Fuentes and Radwa Elzokm from Senator Andy Kim's office; Kimberly Goetz, Executive Director of the American Red Cross NJ Region; senior faculty from across Rutgers University; and local non-profit founders including Keith Da Costa Co-Founder of CareSparc.
In the afternoon, we shifted from discussion to action, joining Rutgers students and community members for a global health advocacy training opened by John Nanni, Rotarian and polio survivor, whose story set the tone for why this work matters. We thank John for his remarks at the training along with everyone who showed up to advance U.S. leadership in global health.
When children miss routine vaccinations, preventable diseases can spread.
In Malawi, healthcare workers are identifying children who have missed vaccinations and working to close immunization gaps as the country responds to a renewed measles outbreak.

WHO estimates that 11 million people will contract measles in 2026. The situation in the U.S. is becoming increasingly urgent, as Pennsylvania has just reported its first measles deaths in 35 years.
Preventing outbreaks relies on at least 95% of people receiving two doses of measles vaccine. When coverage falls, measles takes advantage rapidly. #VaccinesWork
Five days. 122,067 children. 94% of the initial target.
Somalia’s government-led polio vaccination pilot is testing a more targeted and accountable approach to vaccination in high-risk urban areas with 178 vaccination teams and support from partners.

What if vaccines didn't need a refrigerator?
A new fridge-free tetanus-diphtheria vaccine has shown encouraging results in its first human trial. Overcoming the challenge of keeping vaccines cold over long journeys could mean less waste and more people protected.

Yesterday in Salt Lake City, Shot@Life and United to Beat Malaria brought together more than 30 of Utah's leading global health stakeholders – including business and faith leaders, academics, and local government leaders – for a discussion moderated by former Utah Congressman Chris Stewart on Utah’s leadership in global health innovation and programming.
We were proud to recognize Senator John Curtis, whose State Director Jenney Rees joined us, for his leadership as a champion of global health in Congress, while also celebrating the many Utahns advancing solutions that strengthen health security and improve lives around the world.
Special thanks to John Harris from @bioMerieuxUSA, Lorena Riffo Jenson from the @slcecondev, Nicholas Tozier from @WorldVisionUSA, Beth Luthy from BYU Nursing, and all who attended for a great discussion.

Years of investment in immunization are helping prevent congenital rubella syndrome, the severe birth defects caused by rubella infection during pregnancy.
Global elimination is within reach, but continued investment in immunization programs, vaccine access, and disease surveillance will be critical to protecting future generations.

Bundibugyo Ebola is still spreading rapidly in the DRC. Now, an experimental vaccine is in phase 1 of human trials in the UK. While not an immediate solution, it marks an important step toward preventing Bundibugyo cases in the future.
From his critical role supporting PEPFAR and the President’s Malaria Initiative to his advocacy for constructive U.S. engagement abroad, @LindseyGrahamSC was a powerful champion for global health and humanitarian aid.
He will be missed, but his legacy endures in the millions of lives America’s global health programs have saved and the countless futures they made possible.
India has approved its first dengue vaccine, marking a major milestone for global health.
As dengue cases rise with climate change and urbanization, especially in South Asia, this innovation offers better protection and hope for reducing cases worldwide.
