As much as we talk about Spielberg's blocking, he's also one of the best Hitchcock style editors. His shot placement is as good as his camera moves. Not to mention his sound and music design. It's how he fluidly uses any tool with no mandate that makes him special. He's a master at everything.
I'm not surprised that the reactions to Disclosure Day are getting more polarizing as more people see it. However, it really disappoints me that the rampant cynicism polluting the online space is robbing people of feeling just an ounce of this film's abundant sincerity.
Spielberg is not naive, he’s optimistic. I suppose you could argue optimism in this current hellworld moment is its own form of naivety. But when you spend your entire life bringing people together with a little bit of magic, you tend to hope for the best.
