Is the Alberta New Democratic Party about to be hijacked and murdered?

Everyone loves a good murder mystery, except, of course, the victims. If you pay attention, the plot is now being revealed for a brand new political novel which could end the very existence of the Alberta NDP.

The Plot Thickens

Naheed Nenshi (the former Calgary Mayor) is well on his way to becoming the next Leader of the Alberta NDP — at least that’s his plan. For those who are unfamiliar with Nenshi, his ego seems quite large and he famously portrayed his political essence with the colour purple: not Liberal red and not Conservative blue, but in-between. For those with a fine eye for details you will notice which colour Nenshi did NOT choose to represent him: NDP Orange!

As Calgary Mayor during the "pandemic" Nenshi railed against the unvaccinated and suggested that people at anti-mask rallies were thinly veiled white nationalist supremacists. Sound familiar? It should. He was effectively parroting Trudeau's Liberal Party talking points. Anyway, city taxes went way up in Calgary and the city’s fortunes went downhill under Nenshi's reign, so he dodged a potential election trouncing by withdrawing (very temporarily) from politics.

Now, Nenshi’s Purple Eminence has returned to hijack the Alberta NDP. As Nenshi is a newly-minted NDP leadership candidate, some of the usual NDP crowd are hoping for a saviour to rescue them from the wickedly successful Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. Expect the Liberal-influenced media to fawn all over Naheed Nenshi and, through their usual tactics, arrange to have him ordained in newspapers and on TV as the eventual inevitable winner of the leadership contest.

What the dunderheads at the NDP don’t realize yet is that once Nenshi wins, it could likely spell doom for the Alberta NDP and also greatly harm both the federal NDP and their Big Union bosses.

First of all, for those who don’t know, the current NDP structure makes the provincial wings subservient to the federal Big Daddy NDP and Jagmeet Singh. Not only will ego-enthusiast Naheed Nenshi likely not want to play second-fiddle to Jagmeet Singh, but he also might want to cozy-up with Trudeau, Freeland and company for their well-practised spending ability.

In order to present a more winnable alternative in conservative-leaning Alberta, Nenshi could pull his old “purple” trick again. To do this, he would need to get out from under the thumb of Jagmeet Singh; therefore, he would likely start to sideline the more hardline leftists in the Alberta NDP caucus, modify the NDP's most absurd policies and then he could announce that the federal NDP are getting officially dumped. At the same time the party name of the Alberta NDP could be changed ‘to properly reflect the preferences and feelings of Albertans’ or something like that. The Alberta Purple Party (or whatever the heck Nenshi might name it) could be born. The Alberta NDP name could be chucked into the dumpster-fire of history and the political coup would be complete.

The Aftermath

The new Alberta Purple Party would be adored in the bought-off media and Liberal Ottawa would likely make any deals they could to pump the tires of both the new Party and Nenshi. In such a scenario, the federal NDP would have their Alberta base more-or-less stolen away.

If this murder mystery plays out as I expect, I can’t say it would be all bad, since the Alberta NDP is horrendous beyond words and they would effectively be gone. While Nenshi is not to my liking whatsoever, if he kills-off the NDP in his personal power grab, that would be hilarious.

I wonder if Janis Irwin and Sarah Hoffman even realize they are not only likely to lose, but the far-left NDP Party they have worked hard to support could easily be killed-off and they could be personally shown the door? I also wonder if the Big Union Bosses realize their guaranteed control of the Alberta NDP may soon be coming to a permanent end?

Anyway, I shall break out the popcorn and see what happens. I don’t like any of the actors, but both the comedy and pathos could be epic.
