@KShevchenkoReal@igorsushko@KyivIndependent It is regrettable but sanctions are designed in a way to hurt Russia’s economy and provide time for the EU companies to phase out when possible. Otherwise, public opinion would quickly find it outrageous. Is this what you want or did you just not think enough about it?
@KShevchenkoReal@IuliiaMendel@kielinstitute Trade was six times this amount in 2022 and the EU represented nearly 50% of all FDI to Russia. It is now close to zero.
We all want to support Ukraine against Russia’s invasion but such biased tweets under the disguise of fake morality do not help. Actually help Russia.
According to Transparency International’s 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index, Russia ranks 154th out of 180 countries, 49 places below Ukraine and 82 below the lowest-ranked EU member state.
The index is worth keeping in mind when assessing the credibility of Russia’s endless corruption accusations directed against Ukraine and EU member states.
The damage to Russia caused by sanctions is estimated at $1.5 trillion
The European Union is preparing a new sanctions package against Russia. Around 80 more individuals and companies are expected to be added, according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
Those targeted include entities linked to Russia’s military-industrial complex, human rights violations, and propaganda.
Kallas also said that existing sanctions are estimated to have cost Russia between $1.2 and $1.5 trillion.
The price of Putin’s “operation” keeps growing every day.

@RFERL « Hi! Oligarch Alekperov here,
probably the richest man in Russia. In the name of my comrades, I want to thank you as I am now informed in advance and have several weeks to hide my money and f*** the EU. You will be decorated for this support by Vladimir himself! » (nah, kidding)
@ATGuerreiro Because the impact is cumulative, because decoupling is progressive, because Russia is adapting, because more information becomes available etc. Don’t pretend to be so dumb.
