@markseidenberg@ReadingShanahan In some ways, I feel more lost than ever. Taking comfort in Dykstra’s comments of knowing the bullseye of science - What do we actually know? We need the 5 pillars.
During his inaugural address in 2019, Zelensky told lawmakers: “I do not want my picture in your offices: the President is not an icon, an idol or a portrait. Hang your kids' photos instead, and look at them each time you are making a decision.”
@JoAnneGross1 @StephLeLievre_ I’m not an either/or person but I thought this might be of use. Step 1 indicates the use of phonics. 🤷♀️ I like that Linnea Ehri says more study - we are all still learning.
@SpeechieTeach_ I wonder if any of those classroom displays were constructed by the students as part of a learning experience? Would there be a difference in attention spent on the environment then or would the environment serve to jog their memory? Just thinking out loud 🤔
Enjoying being able to continue my learning through online education from @SpeldNSW about #T4W. Learning a lot and am very much looking forward to being able to implement it next term.
@reading_league My “ah-ha” moment was when I realised I had no idea why a student could not read and could not honestly answer a parent. I decided then and there to investigate and discover all that I could.
Looking at the Aus Curriculum and it indicates that “predicting” along with “monitoring the reading” are text processing strategies. I had thought they’re more linked to comprehension and not decoding. Can anyone confirm or steer me in the right direction? TIA
