Cleary travels the country preaching online child safety, yet has co-authored several schoolbooks that raise serious concerns about highly sexualised content and ideological influence. Having children talk about masturbation, gender ideology and forced painful violent sex. Really Eoghan?

Perhaps it’s time we scrutinised those who claim to protect our children just as closely as everyone else.

If the aim was to get publicity, this ad has certainly done the rounds. It has apparently been taken down after a backlash against it. There is a moral and philosophical confusion embedded within the narrative: it assumes there is some sort of wrong or violation involved in a grandma or grandpa giving their grand-daughter a kiss on the cheek without getting their prior consent. It is turning spontaneous and quite natural public affection within a family into a matter upon which lawyers should pronounce, or contracts be signed. It takes a truth that is obvious - that certain boundaries must be respected at all times, and trust must not be abused - and twists it into the idea that a hug or kiss from grandma without prior consent is some sort of immoral imposition.
