from the makers of "not going broke because of illness" and "not going broke because of old age" ... introducing: "not going broke because you have a child!" #ChildCare4All#EarlyEdChat
"We have parents who go to work every day & are worried about whether their kids have child care—they're left home alone or they can't increase their own pay because they don't have access to child care. This is a national emergency."

I was honored to close out @NARAL's 50th anniversary celebration last night. The work to defend reproductive rights is more urgent now than ever.

I have never spoken publicly about my abortion. I'm speaking now because of intensified efforts to strip Constitutional rights from pregnant people and to criminalize abortion.
I shared my story in an Op-Ed with @nytimes.

CLIP: Complete exchange between Rep. Pressley and Secretary Carson.
@SecretaryCarson: "Reclaiming my time."
@RepPressley: "You don't get to do that."
Carson: "Oh."
@RepMaxineWaters: "The time belongs to the gentle lady."
All abortion bans punish women and girls because they criminizalize health care, forcing them to carry fetuses to term. But Georgia will now imprison them for life or execute them for an abortion. Unconstitutional, pseudoscientific, misogynist garbage. https://t.co/UO7j1MLpMX
This is what a pregnancy looks like at 6 weeks. This is an actual SEM image taken in 2009 by the UNSW Embryology Department.
This is what it's illegal to terminate in Georgia, Ohio, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Dakota, and Iowa because of "heartbeat bans."
Trump continues to use blatant LIES to rile up his extremist base for 2020. No woman sets out to terminate a healthy pregnancy only moments before birth. No woman asks a doctor to murder her newborn—and no doctor does it. It's really not that hard to understand.
“If another country came in here, blew up our mountains, and poisoned our water, we’d go to war.
But industry can.”

For context, this kicks in within days of a typical at-home test working.
If you were sexually assaulted (stress delays cycle), took a morning-after pill (throws off cycle), or have an irregular cycle, you‘d have no idea.
There are a TON of ways this law ignores basic biology.
“6 weeks pregnant” = 2 weeks late on your period.
Most of the men writing these bills don’t know the first thing about a woman’s body outside of the things they want from it. It’s relatively common for a woman to have a late period + not be pregnant.
So this is a backdoor ban.
In this '04 interview, @ewarren tried to warn us of the coming crash. Here are 4 clips.
"Alan Greenspan, our national economic leader, stood up for the last 4 years and told Americans 'borrow against your house.' What frightens me is millions of Americans have taken that advice"
