50% of ACPs ( who are majority nurses ) are working as Dr substitutes on medical rota’s all the way up to ‘consultant ‘ level .
The ‘ consultant’ and ‘ Doctor ‘ titles need to be protected in medical settings to only refer to MEDICAL Drs and consultants . @Duncan_CNO
@MadeComfyau I’m in one of your properties in Coogee. How is this ok? Booked through @bookingcom . I can assure you there is no patience or understanding here
@HCRCMary SCC Highways submitted no objections ! Appear to sanction unloading at any time in the bus stop immediately next to the loading bay, as only alternative is double yellow lines. I’ve seen trucks unloading from opposite part on roundabout causing a danger.
This is awful.
The NHS cut the number of radiology trainees between 2022 and last year.
4011 qualified doctors applied for just 356 jobs in radiology last year.
That means we turned away 3655 doctors whilst scans are piling up.
Cuts to training numbers don’t help anyone.
Woke up this morning to the news that the head of the NHS wants to remove doctors from the NHS. Brave timing given the current inquest into a young mothers death after she was seen by only PAs and the report detailing how a single nurse replacing a doctor killed so many patients
A doctor has now spent almost 12 years in a legal fight after raising patient safety concerns inside the NHS.
Think about that.
A junior doctor speaks up about risks to patients, loses his job, then spends more than a decade trying to prove he should have been protected for doing the right thing. Now Dr Chris Day @drcmday is back in court, arguing that the legal effort to deny whistleblowing protection to junior doctors relied on contracts that were kept out of sight at the time and only uncovered later by journalist Tommy Greene.
This case goes far beyond one doctor.
If whistleblower protection can be argued away with hidden documents and technical contracts, what does that say to every NHS worker who sees danger and wants to speak up?
You cannot tell staff to raise concerns, then leave them exposed when they do.
Patient safety depends on people being able to speak freely, early, and without fear. Protection must apply at every level. Otherwise the system protects itself first.
Dr Chris Day kept going. Most people could not fight for 12 years. They should never have to.
If this is how the system treats a doctor who raised safety concerns, how many others stayed silent?
Royal College of Surgeons & others warn UK Gov that its sudden cuts to funding for specialist surgical training, made without warning or consultation, will endanger future patient care

Sir,
The European Study of Prostate Cancer Screening after 23 years follow up, demonstrated an excess of 27/1000 prostate cancers in the screened group compared with the untested controls. Mortality from prostate cancer was 1.4% in the screened group compared with 1.6% in the control group, a difference of 2/1000. During this period, close on 50% of all participants died of other causes. The authors conclude, "The associated risks of overdiagnosis and unnecessary interventions remain considerable. Future screening strategies should focus on risk-based approaches to minimize these harms while maintaining the benefits." Nowhere does the paper say screening for prostate cancer would save thousands.

A national scandal is quietly unfolding in the NHS.
Thousands of doctors are being blocked from training to become Consultants & GPs due to Government caps on speciality spots.
The public are being kept in the dark.
Unemployed doctors while waiting lists rise is sheer madness.
You’ve waited months for your operation.
You’ve waited hours in A&E.
And yet; thousands of doctors who want to become surgeons and emergency medics are being turned away.
In 2025, Emergency Medicine had 5,081 applicants for only 357 posts; around 14 applicants for one post. 5,399 doctors applied for just 630 Core Surgical Training posts; a ratio of 8.57 to 1.
These are doctors who’ve completed years of study and clinical training, passed rigorous exams, and are ready to serve patients. But the Government refuses to fund enough speciality training places for them.
So while patients lie on trolleys in corridors and operations are cancelled, fully trained doctors are left without a pathway to specialise.
This is a catastrophic failure of workforce planning. A deliberate Government imposed cap on doctor speciality training numbers that wastes talent, demoralises staff, and prolongs NHS waiting times.
If the Government is serious about tackling long waiting lists and rebuilding the NHS, it must expand funded training posts and use the workforce we already have.
@DrEilidhMaria This is a fantastic FB group and they have a book. Up to date thinking on pack theory, dominance and why positive training is a must . Good luck
☠️ Dear St George’s Trust team @geshnhs ,
Are you serious about appointing a “CONSULTANT PARAMEDIC” to work in your emergency department as an EM consultant?
⭕️ A Master’s degree doesn’t suddenly put a paramedic on par with a junior doctor, let alone a consultant.
⭕️ They have not passed the relevant membership exams (MRCEM).
⭕️ You also failed to inform the public on your website that you have a consultant paramedic.
This “consultant” title is being abused in the NHS and handed out to anyone with random qualifications.
