"dissented the basis states have the right to regulate healthcare"
Yeah?? The courts ruling was that it was a form of free speech, thus by saying it's regulating healthcare they are acknowledging it's not just an opinion but a material act by someone in a position of power
Btw, Kagan & Sotomayor, both liberal c*s women, voted in favor. Ketanji Brown Jackson, liberal c*s woman w/ the sole dissenting opinion, dissented on the basis that states had the right to regulate healthcare, not that it was a recognized form of child abuse
9-0 anti trans court
I said something about eugenists and my friend said "isn't that a book of the Bible" and I just wanted to share that cause I felt very amused
my account is private and I think basically everyone following me doesn't use Twitter anymore but I think that's ideal
What if we just amend anti-trans bills like this. Because the "exceptions... for medical necessary procedures" means gender-affirming surgery would be permitted, because it's objectively medically necessary
@Etanarachel if you have sex without wanting to have sex, that's non-consenual. it's not about whether it's "100% enjoyable" it's about if both parties want it. suggesting sex where one party is HAVING TO DISSOCIATE is okay is actually such an insane rapey take
@absolute_malex@TheIshikawaRin IIRC the current standard treatment of BPD does not include medication for that specific condition--though they may be used for comorbidities--rather DBT is the primary treatment recommended. Throwing drugs at problems, without a very good reason, is not really a great idea
@lunarleahhhhh as a (i think) center-left person, yeah
idk why people think that not destroying the environment or forcing poor people to die is radical what-so-ever
@CursedGoo@eatalotofdick as a transgender cissexual (for now?) person I agree. hrt and stuff needs to be viewed as the life saving care it is for many people. I do, however, think some of the reason that rhetoric is used is in response to transmed. framing that supports everyone ought to be used
It's perfectly fine to not be dysphoric, you don't need dysphoria to be transgender, nor do you need medical intervention to be transgender. The main hangup, understandably, that everyone is having, is when transgender cissexuals regard themselves as identical or superior to transsexuals and speak over us. Just last year, cissexual talking points of "you don't need hormones or surgery to be trans!" were used by the US Supreme Court to deny care to transsexual minors. They had a medical need for it. For them, it's life or death. But the narrative being set by transgender cissexual completely speaks over them, and actively hurt them and continues to hurt the rest of us.
Again, it's perfectly fine to be cissexual and transgender. We are allies in the battle for individual autonomy and freedom of self expression. But the overlap completely ends when we're talking about material needs and the narratives around those. Transsexual rights are far closer to the struggle faced by feminists in their fight for abortion, to disability advocates trying to get treatment and a more accommodating society, to transhumanists and bodymodders and people desiring to experiment medically with themselves as they see fit. This is because our common fight is for the right to bodily autonomy.
So please, before you think us transsexuals are policing you and feel the need to lash out at us, please consider that we are in fact being spoken over and actively harmed. We have different needs and problems than you. We will work with you because some of our needs overlap, but we also have our own separate issues that need to be addressed for us to survive. Gender dysphoria is a real condition and if you don't experience it, that doesn't mean you are somehow more superior or that it isn't real or valid or that it's somehow oppressive. You are still our friend, you're fighting alongside us on some fronts, and we'd like to have you with us instead of against us.
