@PLeigh_Presents What I'm interested in is if in their breaks they go out and play quidditch against the year above/below
Imagine how hard a year 5 v year 6 quidditch game would go
The thing is, this is not even remotely surprising for the UK
We've studied this in our history classes, where the UK banned Lady Chatterley's lover
It's the people who grew up during those times, who we are appealing to
I don't care if you like Sally Rooney's books or not. This is about the UK effectively banning an author's work because she is vocal in her support for the Palestinian people. I don't care whether you personally like her. Nor should you. It's about censorship. It's unhinged.
@olivvrszn I have the opinion that we should have a "summer break" where no one works for 2 weeks in the middle of the year
So everyone gets 2 weeks off in the middle of the year, then the restaurants and retail works get the other 2 weeks off afterwards
@olivvrszn This is why I don't understand why people are so against a 4-day week
Especially as even within a capitalist society it is seen to work as it actually boosts productivity
Iโll say it again and again. Working 8 to 9 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week, 11 months a year just to barely afford one week of vacation is a form of systemic violence. You do not work to live, you live to work.
@hrrysmullet No, this is 100% true.
Also they've simplified the designs on the paper and now you can't have a collection of cool stamps in this little book for a memory
They might as well just make it a card now, that's all they need
@fkaemu I accidentally done this when I was scrolling through and pressed follow when trying to scroll past suggested
I feel like it's easy to overthink it
An underdiscussed part of modern capitalism is how low-wage workers are often micromanaged every minute theyโre on the clock, while many high-wage jobs come with hours of unstructured computer time where no one really cares what youโre doing as long as the work gets done.
A 32 hour four day work week without loss in pay would do more for our overall quality of life and wellbeing than nearly any other singular socioeconomic change
Idk why British Chinese food isn't considered one of the most successful instances of fusion cuisine ever but if I had to guess it's because fusion cuisine is aesthetically very bougie and British Chinese food is very aesthetically lower class
St panc is such a shitly laid out platform
Why have a sign that says 12-13 by the escalators for platform 4-5
And platform 12-13 be the complete over side and around the corner
It's why we allow such corruption in our country and do nothing
It's why the biggest left demonstrations are for Palestine (and not really based on our involvement with Israel)
It's why we allow our infrastructure get so bad and let our wages staganate
I think the main reason we seem to be regressing as a country is that we're not a proud country
Even the far right protestors aren't proud of the UK, they're just protesting in fear of immigrants
The only one I see who is actually proud of this country try is Big John
