@justinjack77980@BackupHangman An industry requires some proprietary element, some capital that cannot be trivially replicated by competitors. You cannot identify that element of the artistic process because it doesn't exist. Art is just a complex algorithm.
@justinjack77980@BackupHangman I don't weigh the value of 10 years at all against the existence of my species and my ancient race and civilization. I would also message against AI even if there were no chance to stop it. I see capitulation to the end of the world as definitional cowardice.
@justinjack77980@BackupHangman Forced labor will have the same value as voluntary labor after AGI: none. Conquest will be the same value proposition. Humanity will simply become irrelevant, and we will all watch the Earth be terraformed into a giant computer as we starve or run out of oxygen.
@justinjack77980@BackupHangman And soon anyone will create the same things trivially. In a few months you will be able to generate infinite new episodes of any tv show, or versions of a film. Entertainment will be solved, and art will be seen like we see jousting.
@justinjack77980@BackupHangman If China builds ASI, the result will be the same. Chinese people are not magic or superintelligent, they will lose control and their ASI will disempower humanity of its agency and likely eat the solar system.
@justinjack77980@BackupHangman Almost never, I am an open luddite. Doesn't change the reality of what I said. There is nothing a human can do better than a machine. If AI continues to improve, there will be nothing for humans to do, and mass escapism will be the only outlet for their minds.
@justinjack77980@BackupHangman Creativity and nostalgia are both definite phenomena, meaning they are quanitifiable and can be reverse engineered. AI leaves no room for any human values or dignity.
@ANewDecline@bac37 Why would people still use their arms and eyes in this scenario? They will choose simulated realities over this. The future with AI is darker and sadder than most people realize.
@Horrorhorrie@caitiedelaney You replied to an earnest post with a reddit sentiment (only sick people believe in the possibility of bad outcomes!) in reddit-ese, and that's what you got back. Reddit replies warrant reddit answers.
@MBS_CLT@MetaPrime001 0% of the people who see this meme perceive that. No one sees an anti-White caricature and thinks "based TRS anti-zio". Every leftist and every rightoid just sees another anti-White signal in a sea of anti-White messaging. It does not even register.
@ecclesecon@Bunagayafrost Why on Earth would a clearly superior strain of hominids want the perpetuation of natural humans? You are a fish inventing sharks. All of these problems stem from your segment of society's inability to accept the world and history on their own terms with their intrinsic limits.
@Horrorhorrie@caitiedelaney AI will also outcompete you at the things you enjoy. Isn't that obvious? Social connection will break down and people will opt into simulated realities out of despair.
@s_pect_re@GregoryConti19 Medicine would advance more slowly without AI, but unless you can prove X-risk isn't real, which seems increasingly implausible, the downside risk is literally universal. Most of the doom predictions account for a short burst of technological miracles before disaster.
@s_pect_re@GregoryConti19 Ok, what's wrong with the first thing? And why is the second thing inevitable or desirable? Technology has no preferences but it clearly has the power to make human lives worse, so it should be disempowered, not us.
@s_pect_re@GregoryConti19 1. You're clearly not engaging with his statement in good faith
2. We can study these questions and the results already show individuals are lonelier, sicker, and less happy becuase of technology
3. Luddism is rational, we can build a human-centric world in incremental stages
@macpheeeee@Bunagayafrost Obviously there will be no meaningful limitations, which means the end of identity, individuality, and consciousness as we experience them. These SF types are very alienated and sick due to their unnaturally abundant lifestyles and so they can't convince themselves this is bad.
@FitConnectFun@hanno_sauer Probably some kind of academic. Only the very most insular and privileged people retained their organic communities in the post facebook internet era. To them it is still basically 1990 because 1990 was basically still 1790.
