Enabling Zambian farmers to adapt to a changing climate by supplying everything they need to grow indigenous drought tolerant crops; seeds, training & a market
“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is the healer and restorer and resurrector, by which disease passes into health, age into youth, death into life. Without proper care for it we can have no community, because without proper care for it we can have no life.”
— Wendell Berry

Did you know that for every 1% increase in soil organic matter, your soil can hold up to 48,000 litres more water per ha? This can be achieved through Conservation Agriculture practices such as:
🔹 Cover cropping
🔹 Crop rotation
🔹 Crop residue management
🔹 Reduced tillage
We need to mechanize smallholder agriculture
But that doesn't have to mean big, shiny tractors
It can be simple, little sorghum threshers
Big labour savings & clean grain: win win
Small investment ($300) means SMEs can do this without donor / NGO $

Visited a smallholder today that used no fertilizer + recycled seed = 100% profit.
Crop looked so healthy!
Sorghum is naturally adapted to African soils & African soil microbiology

@ChipoyiKelvin @KMusakanya@SorgGuy@madamsorghum They have sandy loam & planted early & had good plant spacing / thinning but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary
This is a "spontaneous" sorghum farmer not someone we support directly: we provide foliar fertilizer loan. But they want to sell & we will buy! Est. harvest 4MT
