For the small additional weight, they save £200-£1200 in airport fees each time, have the option to fly to airports with few facilities & shave a few mins off turnarounds.

If the US wanted other territories to import more US goods in order to narrow down trade deficits (in US favour), then they needed to make goods suitable for those export countries and goods that people actually want.
