@80percentvegan@GreenlightPT You've absolutely nailed exactly the reasons why I ditched triathlon and went back to running. The costs just have gotten out of control.
@Harriers_Chelt @mcmillanrunning Complex and useful race and pace predictions.... but if a runner can do 5km in 20 mins how good are they relatively? Is there a governing body or established norm that gives perspective? In a recognised chart or table? Must be one out there? #ukrunchat
This chart was my holy grail when I briefly flirted with TTing. An instant reference point into how good I was. As a runner, I've never found an equivalent that can quickly take your best times for 5km, 10km, HMs etc. With similar bands. Could anyone point me to one? #ukrunchat
Train for 10 wks, get 1 wk to race at that level before fitness tails off, train for 20 wks and get 2 wks to race at that level of fitness. Train for a year and get ??? How many wks before it dips? Anyone have a formula to prove this law of diminishing returns example? #ukrunchat
@wnew91 Yes theres defo some solid science in there that could explain that. New capillaries formed, strengthened joints etc that have adapted over a long time so will remain and not atrophy for some time enabling tour to tap back into them on the comeback. As long as it's not too long!
@wnew91 Then when they cycled off the gear, the could get much quicker results and tap into old muscle memory because they had lready boosted this. Tricky one.
@wnew91 I'm no expert, but from my own experiences adaptation to a certain point seems to come quickly, then it's months and months of consistency and varied training to get tiny improvements. Wasn't there some studies in cycling about known dopers who could induce far quicker results
