@timburchett please oppose adding the Sunshine Protection Act to H.R. 7389, the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act!
In Knoxville, elementary school kids already have to wait at bus stops in the dark most of the year. This law will make for even more drowsier kids and drivers, which will lead to an increase in accidents.
Our nation tried permanent DST in 1974, and it sucked so bad it was repealed right away.
We should learn from that mistake. Congress should adopt permanent standard time instead, which best supports public health and safety.
A new Tennessee bill would end the state’s twice-a-year clock changes by requiring residents to remain on standard time year-round.

Local sunrises and sunsets vary greatly based on latitude and longitude.
I’m a parent myself and our family loathes DST - it’s especially bad in East TN where we should really be on Standard time.
Standard time results in the best balance for health and safety across all locations.
Winter days are naturally shorter and Summer days are naturally longer - no clock change required.
It should be an easy choice: Standard time should be the standard. Arizona seems to manage fine when its neighbors use DST.
That said it would of course be preferable for national governments to standardize to prevent a chaotic result from states and provinces choosing differently.
Did you wake up this morning and wish your alarm had woken you up an hour earlier?
If your answer is “no”, then, congrats, you like Standard Time!
DST is coming this weekend and it forces everyone to wake up an hour earlier. Booooo. DST is bad. Standard Time is good.
@naijasportscrib@CoachDanGo Not possible with kids in school. Adults who prefer evening light have much more authority to edit their schedule than families - we need to prioritize the health of the latter over the preferences of the former.
@Lemonade_Inc@Tesla When using this Tesla integration for telematics, are users still required to share location always via the Lemonade app and leave it running in the background?
Hoping Tesla's sustainable abundance initiative is successful so that we can banish ads on the internet. In the meantime, I'm thankful for Safari Reader.
