The biggest takeaway from this course was the technical jargon and strategies for navigating situations where a theory is relevant. I recognized many ideas present throughout this course but never knew how to discuss the topic. I would highly recommend this course! #UTcommtheory

The communication theory that was most pertinent to my life was co-cultural theory. This theory was particularly relevant due to my advocacy efforts for the LGBTQ+ community for my transgender identity and the hateful anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the Ohio government. #UTcommtheory

I don't tend to notice the artificial bubble created by TikTok's algorithm. I notice this when I fall into certain niche corners such as 'witchtok'. This is further exacerbated when I see someone else's TikTok and it's wholly unrecognizable. #UTcommtheory

Although the metaphor was completely unintentional, there are newer analyses of the show and it is weirdly a very strong metaphor for growing up as a closeted transgender child hiding from his transphobic family (ghost hunters). Transitions were a big part. #UTcommtheory (2/3)

This show is fundamental to my identity. I saw it was okay to be different from the norm, to accept myself and everyone else exactly as they are, and to celebrate and uplift those around you. The cancellation was devastating but the send off was very touching! #UTcommtheory (5/5)

The company I chose to research was Warner Brothers Discovery. I chose this company because I believe they have a great story showing the ambiguity of influence of the dominant culture. The particular story was through WB's subsidiary Cartoon Network #UTcommtheory (1/5)

They also offered the option of removing the wedding and continuing the series. Sugar knew her vision and kept the wedding. The show ended early. To the networks credit, they aired the show and after some time gave the series a movie and an epilogue season. #UTcommtheory (4/5)
