@TheAdvocates So, the state level agency dictated that small houses can be built on flag lots (long driveway to a lot in back of another lot). The result is not enough street space to put out the trash cans. Would not happen if local self-governance had still been in place.
@NikkiHaley Both the U.S. and Iran are trying to avoid a classical mistake: attempting to achieve sweeping strategic objectives in one continuous conflict. Nazi Germany was a big example. What needs to change at this point is commentary about the Iran conflict.
@aliromman_ If there is asymptotic slowing of progress as the capability of AI expands, then multiple companies and nations will be on that asymptote more or less together.
@ExploreCosmos_ Applause again! I'll mentally file this in my "exotheology" folder. By the way, creationists who insist the world is 6,000 years old invoke the "created with a perfect appearance of age" idea.
@KonstantinKisin $3 a person in the USA is a billion. $3000 a person is a trillion. That’s what the stock market prices Musk’s contribution to be, if we just think of the US. Actually his contribution is global.
Make SS run like a proper annuity. Stop loaning SS contributions to Congress at minimal interest rates. SS is not a Ponzi scheme. It's been horribly mismanaged. The federal government can and does manage retirement investments in stocks and bonds for its employees-- the Thrift Savings Plan.
@AJamesMcCarthy Where will the first school of exotheology be founded? These images are beautiful, but I often wonder if civilizations died in the wake of stellar explosions.
@SenSanders Make sure your bill requires investing Social Security contributions in the Thrift Savings Plan that federal employees use like a 401k. It invests in both bonds and equities. If you don't support that, you are grifting.
@NiohBerg U.S. oil companies sell their products on the international market. They profit from high global oil prices. They don't offer price guarantees for U.S. consumers. The U.S. government doesn't set the price of gas, but it did impose gas rationing in the 70s.
