Shared traditions and morals sure. But one binary set of “allowed” beliefs leads to an echo-chamber. The early saints debated constantly. Even saints in the early 1900s didn’t agree with each other. Our doctrine has developed over time from conversations and disagreements.
I think being kind in those differences is the key here. Locking me out of the temple for my daughters wedding because I don’t believe in all of it seems like the wrong approach to me.
I have to pretend to believe something in order to participate in the community? Can I not keep doing the things I’ve done for 50+ years that I feel comfortable in just because I don’t believe in it 100%?
@hvworlton Well it is required for salvation and to be worthy of the celestial kingdom… but yeah… for the sake of argument you’re not locked in a tower or something
