How on earth can any farming business expect to plan for the future when this vindictive Labour government change the rules without any notice.
They literally said ‘if we need to close applications we will give you 6 weeks notice’
But instead - give no notice whatsoever.
Hugely damaging for business, for food production and for the environment - and of course detrimental for our farmers own health and wellbeing.
Just to clarify: Defra closed SFI to new applicants at 6pm today with zero warning or consultation. The Sec of State was in my constituency on Monday posing for photos. He won’t dare come back now. This is a disgraceful attack on our poorest farmers in our most beautiful places.
The irony of this screen still showing on @Ruralpay this evening… 😠
Not 6 weeks, not 6 days, not even 6 hours notice given. Farmers have been terribly let down @DefraGovUK#SFI
@CLAtweets An unforgivable move by @DefraGovUK in bringing SFI to end with no notice. Huge implications for an already beyond strained sector and complete lack of understanding and compassion.
- ‘if we need to close applications we will give you 6 weeks’ notice’
@CLM_consultancy@Ruralpay I’ve had an issue with not being able get past section 3 which I raised a week ago and still no resolution. It’s been escalated up to higher management but time ticks on when you have several applications to make.
