@maryam_mn8@danaalkhayarin I agree as the companies will only be “checking a box” and won’t be trying to benefit society while if they are encouraged to promote csr then they will benefit society and the business itself #bse18
What I found to be the most interesting part of the discussion about CSR in the last lecture was about the difference in CSR in the middle east and the CSR in the west #bse18
@AlReem_cmuq There are benefits to both and disadvantages without grouping people into categories, I am for the government to find ways to promote csr other than just putting strict laws as that won’t benefit society in the long run #bse18
@linataha7 To be direct I can’t choose between the two as none of them do it justice in one way or another. There are instances in the West where companies are just following laws and do not want to benefit society. The same can be said to the Middle East but again there are — #bse18
So there must be other ways to promote csr in businesses since some businesses like the example given in class are implementing it because of the law. To combat this the exposing people to the benefits that comes with csr may get people to implement it because they want to #bse18
Which is why the western business that came to Qatar as discussed in class did not want to be concerned with the pollution that their actions caused because their isn't any repercussion in doing so which may show how some businesses only implement CSR because of the law #bse18
@Alyybash Business which may show that some people are just following the law and aren't implementing CSR for the benefit of the society but because they don't want to face the repercussions that come with the exclusion of CSR #bse18
@Alyybash Yeah and these cultural differences may cause csr to be implemented differently but what is more interesting is the example given in class where a foreign business was expanding to Qatar and took advantage of the laws which didn't include csr as being mandatory for the --- #bse18
@dvijaysi Yeah not every place in the world will be able to cope with strict regulations. There should and are different ways to approach csr depending on the region #bse18
@danaalkhayarin@hudabbasi I agree, plus it may motivate the employees in a way to work more in order for the business to be successful and with the success of the business it benefits society #bse18
@hudabbasi Yeah it should be promoted in other ways than just have strict regulations as the businesses will not properly benefit society unlike if they truly believe in CSR and slowly implement it into the business #bse18
This website has the Qatar female participation rate for each year which shows that in 2017 it is at 58% which is down a bit from 2016 but is still much more than they aimed for back in 2011 #bse18

This article was written in 2011 and stated that a goal was set for Qatar which is to reach a 42 % Qatari female participation in the workforce by the year 2016

This is a great step forward for Qatar and as discussed in class about the ranking I wonder how much this affected the rankings and at which spot is Qatar in now #bse18
