@LockedOnOrioles Now that Ohtani has left the Angels, could we see one of Reid Detmers or Patrick Sandoval be available via trade. Both have different ceilings but are LHP with a lot of control. Would either be a fit and potentially what would the prospect package look like?

Santander for Beiber has some merit, but you'd need a much stronger prospect package than Norby, Povich, and Haskin to get Clase. I would imagine one of Cowser/Kjerstad, Norby, and Povicy may work

@jsbearr Like Conreras idea a lot. Reminds me of what I was talking about with Sean Murphy, but the only acquisition cost is money and maybe a pick lost due to QO. Still love the idea of super charging the catching position and providing maybe 10+ WAR between Adley and Contreras!

@baseballfan1721 Contreras obviously only costs money at this point with no prospect cost (mins QO pick), so I can see an argument to go that way opposed to Murphy. Still love the idea of potentially 10+ WAR from the catcher position, where most other teams struggle. Interesting thought.

@baseballfan1721 I proposed going after Sean Murphy to Mr Shepard a while ago to reduce the workload while having a competent catcher and non-liability bat in the lineup to reduce workload. Also having a double plus at cather provides a really cool value component we don't ever really see.

@jsbearr I agree. Just so much turnover that restocking the minors each year with fresh talent is a must. Its almost like running backs in the NFL. Legs and body get worn out much quicker than any other position, you really need to have a stable ready to go each year.

@jsbearr Obviously Murphys acquisition cost would be very high considering the year he's had, along with his control left, but seeing the advantage Adley gives behind the plate makes me greedy. Lol easily would have the best catching situation in the Majors with those two.

@jsbearr Could this lead to a more concerted effort to upgrade the backup cather spot? They have Handley seemingly knocking on the door and drafted Silas who profiles as a glove first guy. Makes me wonder if they'd go after a guy like Sean Murphy to essentially platoon them at DH and C.
