The presence of Haissem Hassan for Egypt @EgyptNT_EN against Australia in the Round of 32, and his registration for the tournament beforehand, despite the Egyptian federation @EFA not having completed the FIFA process to change his sporting nationality after he obtained an Egyptian passport, raises serious and troubling questions about the effectiveness of the mechanisms used to monitor and approve national team squads.

How did this case pass through the world's biggest football tournament under FIFA's own supervision, when the organization has acted with great firmness in similar cases in the past ?

Today, this is not merely about one match or its outcome, but about the credibility of the entire system. What sanctions will be imposed on the Egyptian federation and the player ? And will FIFA uphold the principle of equal application of eligibility rules without exception ?

The World Cup must remain a symbol of respect for regulations, not a witness to administrative and legal failures of this magnitude. This case calls for a comprehensive review of the procedures used to verify player eligibility and to grant final approval to national team squads before the start of competitions.
