We know their homes are out there somewhere. We never give up hope. We never stop trying.

We never stop loving them or trying to make their days the best they can be.

But oh we wish we could find those elusive experienced homes for dogs with reactivity or stranger fear.

Please don’t comment extend your area - we already consider out of area for our more difficult to rehome dogs. Help us by giving these dogs a SHARE 💜

🚨 THE £72 MILLION DEAD CAT

Look 👀 what has happened to the news cycle.

Days ago we were watching this extraordinary Channel 4 @Verbatim_Media undercover footage about Reform, political polling and alleged attempts to circumvent donation rules,
allegations now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.

Then BANG 💥 &36m from one crypto billionaire.

💥 Another £36m from another.

Suddenly everyone is talking about the record-breaking £72m, whether Reform can keep it, donation caps and Labour changing the law.

The scandal has been replaced by the story of the money.

This Flush Fund is now Britain’s biggest political dead cat.

But don’t forget what was on the table before the cat landed:

the 👇 Channel 4 footage.

[Feargal Sharkey @Feargal_Sharkey]

It rained....

And as predicted on @LBC with @HenryRiley1 not 48 hours ago.

Anything in brown is sewage being dumping into the environment right now, in real time, anything in red is sewage dumped over the last 24 hours.

@OctopusEnergy #octoeclipse I trief to improvise with sunglasses over my phone. Didn't quite work. But hey, my dog seemed to enjoy the spectacle.

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

This document should keep you awake at night.

The govt’s National Risk Register now ranks losing our drinking water alongside a PANDEMIC as one of the two biggest threats facing the country

This year, in the right-hand document: The chances of “Catastrophic impact” on our drinking water supplies - up to a one in four chance.

Last year, same document (on the left) rated it a minor risk. Bottom of the chart.

So what changed? Nothing changed!

Water is still in private hands and depute the Water Special Measures Act deteriorating rapidly.

This is where 36 years of privatised water has brought us.

Tens of billions handed to shareholders. Over £60 billion of debt racked up on water assets that should belong to al of us.

Leaking pipes. No new major reservoirs. Sewage in our rivers, on our beaches, in our sea.

They didn’t invest. They extracted. And now the state’s own risk experts are telling us the tap water could go.

And the regulators? They watched. Fines for pollution became a business expense. Thames Water’s creditors are now asking for their pollution fines to be written off. You couldn’t make this stuff up!!!!

So let’s cut the crap about ‘tougher control’ of water companies. We’ve tried that for 36 years. It ended with drinking water on the national risk register next to a pandemic. You can’t regulate a cash machine into caring about you.

There’s one answer. Bring water back into mutualised public ownership. Run for people, not profit. Answerable to bill payers, not bondholders. Every single pound going back into the pipes and reservoirs we should have built decades ago.

Water is life. And yet we’ve watched it turned it into a payday.

Time to take it back.

NEW: The Times has established that Nigel Farage and his partner own at least five homes spanning Surrey, Essex and Kent.

All but one were bought with cash since 2000. Farage described himself as "skint" in 2017.

As Britain swelters through another heatwave, few people will have heard that ministers have quietly dropped plans for solar carports.

Cars cooler in summer. Shelter from the rain in winter. Clean electricity all year round.

A missed opportunity?

It’s an amazing report which nails how Russia’s hybrid warfare programme actually works & how Russia is explicitly & directly inciting racialised violence in UK - & working with Tommy Robinson to do so - as well as directing acts of violence
against PM.

UK TV folks! Do not sleep on this superb insightful 🧵 from @GinaIppy that brilliantly contextualises the malaise we find ourselves in on this side of the pond. Our channels are trying to compete like for like with these streamers who can obscenely outspend them.

[Feargal Sharkey @Feargal_Sharkey]

You'll want to be sitting down for this bit.

Water companies are currently £82.7 billion in debt, have paid themselves £85 billion in dividends, leak over a trillion of litres of water per year, dump sewage for almost 4 million hours per year, have been convicted of over 1,200 criminal acts since 1989 and an average of 35% of your bill goes on nothing but paying more interest and yet more dividends.

And not a single company has ever lost their operating licence. 👇

[Politics In The U.K. @politixintheuk]

Times columnist Fraser Nelson pointed out over the weekend that new Home Office statistics paint a striking picture: net migration has fallen dramatically since Labour entered government, now sitting around 80 per cent below the record highs reached under the Conservatives.

And it is not just the headline figure shifting. Remove international students from the equation and long-term immigration levels are now “probably at a multi-year low”, Nelson wrote on his Substack — a remarkable turnaround after years of Tory chaos, broken promises and soaring numbers.

The asylum backlog is also being rapidly reduced under Labour. After ballooning in the aftermath of Covid while successive Conservative ministers appeared paralysed and unwilling to grip the crisis, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has begun making serious progress in clearing the system.

Away from the Westminster psychodrama and endless Reform stunts, an uncomfortable reality is emerging for Labour’s opponents: the Government may quietly be delivering results where the Tories failed for years.

Hilarious video that shows none of the Reform voters know any of Reform's policies.

[Fraser Nelson @FraserNelson]

Also: gifts aren’t taxable.

So £5m tax-free personal “gift” to Farage will be the the biggest single sum accepted by any UK politician in democratic history.

Reform is lobbying for crypto tax cuts, forcing BoE to hold crypto etc. A scandal hiding in plain sight.

Richard Tice said that Angela Raynor should resign over £40,000 of stamp duty.

Today it is revealed that the same man has avoided £600,000 of corporation tax.

Should he resign? Or is it one rule for posh blokes and another for working class women?

[Feargal Sharkey @Feargal_Sharkey]

"Welsh Water set to pay out £44.7m over sewage spills
Ofwat said it found “serious and unacceptable” breaches in Welsh Water’s sewage works systems and operations."

And here's the really scary part in all of this, none of this, none of it would have come to light had it not been for you, the general public, you're the heroes in all of this, the ones that stand in our rivers, that are prepared to be counted, that are prepared to hold authority to account.

My respect. 👏👏👏

A common argument put forward by British AI boosters is that we *have to* hand the life’s work of the UK’s creatives to AI companies, because other countries are doing so.

But they are wrong, for three reasons.

1. AI training on people’s work is clearly *not* blanket legal in the US. See Judge Chhabria in Kadrey v. Meta, who said many lawsuits brought by rights holders against AI companies should succeed. See also the US Copyright Office report on AI training. Claiming all AI training on copyrighted work is fair use in the US is a big tech talking point, nothing more.

2. If other countries *did* pass laws legalising all AI training on copyrighted work, they would likely contravene international agreements like Berne. We should challenge any countries that did so, instead of simply lowering ourselves to the level of our least ethical neighbour.

3. Decisions in one country affect those in others. People are looking for leadership on his issue. We should set an example others can follow, and continue to refuse to sell out our creatives and bend the knee to big tech.

The House of Lords is right: we are at a crossroads. We can either lead the way in responsible AI development, or continue the slide towards mass exploitation by US big tech companies.

Don’t let people tell you our government has no choice but to sell out creatives. There is always a choice.
