$NTDOY is down again today. With a $76B market cap and a $62B enterprise value, the stock is essentially becoming an asset play.

What is the company worth in assets?

Brand: The name Nintendo in itself is a brand and stands for high quality products. The “Apple” of the video game industry. They can charge full price for games that are years old because their quality is industry leading and their art style timeless.

Content: A 40-year back catalogue of successful video games and an expanding movie business. People are still asking for remakes and ports of games that are decades old.

Asset Portfolio: A third of ownership stake in The Pokémon Company (effectively even more), ownership of all Pokémon trademarks, and ownership in various Japanese companies.

IP Portfolio: Franchises like Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Splatoon, Fire Emblem and more. Ofc also their stake in Pokémon, which is btw the biggest Media franchise in the world.

Liquidity: Around $14B in cash. Notice this is around 18% of the whole market cap.

Comparing this to the acquisitions of Activision ($69B), EA ($55B), and WB ($82B) provides perspective on the scale we are talking about. Keep in mind none of those companies had a massive cash position like Nintendo.

Massive opportunity in my opinion!
