Compared to SOC, Procalcitonin guided antibiotic therapy resulted in:
- FEWER antibiotic days: 10.7 vs 9.8 (p=0.01) BUT
- HIGHER 28 day mortality: 19.4% vs 20.9% (p=0.02) though less than the pre-specified non-inferiority margin
