@_The_Prophet__@Noahpinion Great stuff. A few bits I would add is that the barrier to investment increased quite a bit (environmental regulation, permitting, general red tape, first nations issues etc).
Also productivity/opportunity/wage differential etc has pushed a lot of ambitious Canadians out
@buccocapital For point 1 I think it's better to do the job you want to do at a less prestigious shop than to go to a different function in a better shop. Maybe finance specific though.
@signulll It's not necessarily true. There are long periods of time when the UK and the US held reserve currency status and didn't run trade deficits. They just built a net international investment position (capital flows abroad)
@pugnacious_polk Skipping straight from IQ to luck skips a lot of other aspects. That's like saying anybody with the same physical body as Steph Curry that didn't succeed like him is just unlucky. There's a lot of work to put in to even have the chance to be lucky.
@AmandaAskell Expert networks already exist where you do just that, and charge by the hour. They are common in the investment industry.

@10kdiver@Sachinrawat1978@abhishec_s That's assuming you hold to perpetuity or you sell to someone that also has a 15 pct discount in mind. Would look different if you do terminal value at a market based WACC/multiple/whatever. I think people would probably put a high multiple/low discount rate on that roic/growth
