INTENTION changes everything!
Two athletes. Same starting point. Same exact program. But one keeps improving… and the other stays stuck.
Why?
Athlete A is just going through the motions. Showing up because they have to. Checking the box.
Athlete B shows UP. Every rep has purpose. Every drill has focus. Every session has effort behind it.
That’s the difference between average and elite.
If you want to become an elite athlete, don’t just be present; be intentional. Work hard. Compete. Show up with purpose.
This post put together by performwithpete needs to be seen by as many athletes and coaches as possible! Amazing visual and an important lesson on how to maximize every training session. Over a thousand training sessions INTENT becomes the difference between success and knowing you could have been more!

This is how a student-athlete directly improves their health, recovery, and performance. This is a sample strategy for volleyball and even football.

▪️Youth athletes are overtraining.
▪️Youth athletes are playing in too many tournaments, showcases, and games.
▪️Youth athletes need more protein, quality calories, and water to support health and performance.
▪️Youth athlete soft tissue injury rates are rising like we’ve never seen.
-Basketball, American football, hockey, and soccer tend to have the highest injury rates.
▪️Youth athletes need MORE sleep as in 9-11 hours.
▪️Youth athletes NEED to put the screens away and go to bed if they want to be a stronger high school athlete and compete at the collegiate level.
▪️Youth athletes need less scheduled activities and more unscheduled play outside with their friends .
Let’s help kids be kids again!!
Call me crazy BUT middle school athletes training at 530 am before school and then training again at 330 pm then going to practice and special conditioning is a recipe for disastrous injuries and hate for sports.
Burn out is real. I can’t believe the schedule one of my 12 YO hockey athletes has. This kid is going to need 6,000 kcal at this rate and I’m not sure he even has time to eat the meals let alone be a kid, get his homework done, and have time to think.
Training at the youth level is getting out of control. I played multiple sports my entire life, college athlete, and still train competitively today. A big part of being healthy is rest and recovery. Both of which middle school and high school athletes aren’t getting enough of lately.
Kids need to be kids. NIL deals for youth athletes is also a terrible idea. These are human beings not pawns to make money off of. My two cents and take on the matter ✌️ 🌶️
Not much pisses me off more than athletic trainers or physical therapists that don’t stay in their lane
Like they have no earthly idea how to write a proper program yet they try to
Usually leads to some of the worst training I typically see
Sports Parents, this is for you.
How you talk to your child matters.
Here are 10 Phrases that All Athletes Need to Hear...
1: “I LOVE WATCHING YOU PLAY"
This is a powerful statement to a child. There is no judgment or criticism. Ultimately, this is all you really need to say.
2: “I BELIEVE IN YOU”
Do you want to build confidence in your child? Tell them you believe in them. They need to hear this from adults.
3: "DO YOUR BEST"
We are all different. We all have different skill sets. All we can ever do is our best.
4: "BE GREAT AT WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT"
This encourages athletes to focus on their strengths. It helps kids define their role on the team.
5: "LOVE YOUR TEAMMATES"
The joy of team sports comes from the commitment to your teammates. Athletes need to care about their teammates.
6: "NEXT PLAY"
This is a move-on mindset. Don't dwell on a mistake and make another. Don’t celebrate after a great play so much that you lose your focus. This teaches athletes composure and poise.
7: "MAKE MEMORIES"
Live in the moment. A season goes fast. Your high school career goes fast. Appreciate the moments and cherish the memories.
8: “PASS THE MIRROR TEST"
Can you look in the mirror each night? And tell yourself that you did your best, left it on the field or court, were a good teammate, etc.
9: "LEAD BY EXAMPLE"
This is the first step to leadership. Be on time, and have a high character. Bring positive energy. Be one of the hardest workers. Be committed.
10: “LEAD OUT LOUD"
Lead by Example, then Lead Out Loud. Be a Vocal Leader. Be an Encourager. Be willing to hold teammates accountable.

Investment into more games or sport specific training will not move the needle as much as balancing your athletic development portfolio to include a consistent regiment of speed based performance training.
Slow, weak and un-athletic cannot be overcome by playing more.
