I have read the Bible many times.
I have read the Book of Mormon many times.
There are a few sections of the Book of Mormon that are direct quotations from the Old Testament and presented as such.
There is one section that is basically quoted from the New Testament and presented as such.
Then there are a few verses that share some resemblance to verses in the bible.
The VAST majority of the Book of Mormon text is novel and presents beautiful, unique sermons and history.
1) a large portion of those 30k satellites are no longer orbiting. There are currently approximately 15,600 satellites in orbit.
2) there are approximately 1.65 BILLION cars on the face of the Earth. With that many cars on Earth, do you think that so much of the surface of the Earth is covered to make it difficult to find space?
3) there is even more area to work with in space, since we are dealing with several spheres with even larger radii than the surface of the Earth.
We are nowhere close to causing significant traffic in space.
@djlemmon_@AlexCoughanour@ThoughtfulSaint It really depends where you are. In the high-density LDS areas (Utah, Idaho,...) I think 5 years or so is the norm. I am in Taiwan. I was branch president for almost 8 years.
Great point! Really doing the Lord's work...
I am, as a Mormon and a former bishop, telling you that we do not believe in works-based salvation.
Salvation comes through the atonement and grace of Jesus Christ. No amount of good works has the power to save.
The phrase "after all you can do" did not carry the same meaning in the early 1800s as it does now. It meant "in spite of all we can do."
@Apologetics941@nbeutler1201 Why should we obey the word of God?
Because the word of God is good. But Eve had no way of distinguishing that prior to partaking of the fruit.
@djlemmon_@ThoughtfulSaint No former bishop (like myself) ever includes post-release time when speaking of how long we were a bishop. We just don't talk like that...
