@OphthConvergent @RoshanaMN Specialist optometrists already work in the NHS. There isn’t an ophthalmology speciality we don’t work in anymore and support the doctors. We can prescribe independently too, PAs can’t. What’s the point of PAs when optometrists are already in place?

@drdamoeyes But the best bit was that we learnt a lot more as we saw more patients. We were hardly ever waiting for consults as we all kept pace - obvs accounting for complex consults is diff.

@drdamoeyes The best was when I worked with a consultant who just consulted, floated from room to room so he was always with a patient, but then he did all the clinical letters too. He had a secretary so they were dictated and so much quicker

@DrValarieJerome Sad and disappointing to hear. Western Eye have a separate line for optoms and GPs, it’s usually the consultant who picks up and he’s ever so supportive and friendly. We’re lucky!
