@emparish123@TheNCE_ The whole debacle since finishing the apprenticeship has been infuriating. Told one thing, then told another. Sent emails delivering bad news, with the final paragraph stating “I’m now on annual leave for two weeks” - so no way of asking questions or gaining clarity.
Completing this course with @TheNCE_ has been one of the toughest, yet most rewarding challenges. Huge thanks to @dane_carton, I have learned so much from you and have developed so much as a Leader under your professional guidance and expertise. I will forever be grateful ❤️
Early start today so gives me a chance to say again how chuffed I am to be part of this amazing event and the wonderful work we do at Captiva Learning. On today at 11 if you get a chance to take a peek. #WorldEdSummit#CaptivaLearning#OurNCEJourney#Apprenticeships
Hugely thought-provoking article here about the amazing work TA’s do across the country. Thoughts about rebranding them as ‘Learning Coaches’? I wonder where the additional funding is coming from. Would be incredible if we could pay the salary suggested!

@deeharvey@Ajpgray@tombennett71 “Someone that dangerous”, please can I remind us that we are talking about a child.
As a profession it’s our job to see the good in all children. Children aren’t born wanting to cause harm. Those who need love the most show it in the most unloving ways.
Why do we teach?
@Ajpgray@tombennett71 Completely agree with a robust risk assessment for both adult and child. These proactive approaches supporting everyone’s safety is key. A lot of work needs to be done to identify what has happened before any ‘easy’ conclusions are drawn. PEX’s simply add to the trauma.
@MrKRobinsonHT@tombennett71@JudithWBrighton Ps. I have been the adult and I advocate for the child being in school. They deserve an education. It’s our job as professionals to identify the unmet need that has resulted in said behaviours. Not judge, label or exclude the most vulnerable.
@MrKRobinsonHT@tombennett71@JudithWBrighton I work in a SEND school. Dysregulated children, especially those with SEMH difficulties struggle. Fight or flight kicks in. Doesn’t make them an awful human. They need the care and acceptance more than any other child. Not a PEX next to their name.
@tombennett71@JudithWBrighton Also, respectfully, can I please ask what a permanent exclusion would seek to achieve? Would this be acting in the child’s best interests? Would it be a child-centred decision? If it’s simply to protect the staff member involved, this can be achieved in so many other ways….
@dane_carton@WorldEdSummit@TheNCE_ Couldn’t think of a better person for the job! Thoroughly deserved. I feel very lucky to have spent most of my #NCEjourney under your wing! Definitely transformational ☺️ I’ve learned so much these last 18months!
