The World’s Most Profitable Companies in 2026: Tech’s Dominance Is Unmistakable
A powerful new visualization from Visual Capitalist shows the top 30 most profitable publicly traded companies globally and the numbers are striking.
U.S. companies alone generated $1.0 Trillion in profits, dwarfing the $605B from all other nations combined.
The Top 5 Leaders:
• Alphabet ($GOOGL) — $160B
• Microsoft — $125B
• Apple — $123B
• Nvidia — $120B
• Amazon — $91B
Other notable entries include Saudi Aramco ($99B), TSMC ($62B), Samsung ($58B), and major Chinese banks.
This list isn’t just about current success, it’s a preview of where the global economy is heading. AI is the defining force behind much of this profit concentration.
How AI Is Poised to Impact Future Earnings:
• Big Tech Accelerators: Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta are embedding AI across cloud, search, e-commerce, and advertising. Expect higher margins as AI optimizes operations, personalizes experiences, and unlocks new revenue streams.
• Nvidia’s AI Infrastructure Boom: As the pick-and-shovel provider for the AI revolution, Nvidia’s explosive profitability is set to continue as demand for GPUs and data center chips grows exponentially.
• Apple’s Ecosystem Edge: AI features in devices and services (Siri evolution, on-device intelligence) could drive premium pricing, services growth, and customer loyalty.
• Broader Implications: Companies that effectively integrate AI will widen the gap. Those slow to adopt risk falling behind whether in traditional sectors or emerging markets.
The data is clear: AI-native companies are printing money at historic levels. The next decade will likely reward those investing boldly in artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and talent.
What’s your take?
Will tech’s profit dominance continue to expand, or will traditional industries catch up through AI adoption? Which company on this list are you most bullish on and why?

New breakthrough quantum algorithm published in @Nature today: Our Willow chip has achieved the first-ever verifiable quantum advantage.
Willow ran the algorithm - which we’ve named Quantum Echoes - 13,000x faster than the best classical algorithm on one of the world's fastest supercomputers. This new algorithm can explain interactions between atoms in a molecule using nuclear magnetic resonance, paving a path towards potential future uses in drug discovery and materials science.
And the result is verifiable, meaning its outcome can be repeated by other quantum computers or confirmed by experiments.
This breakthrough is a significant step toward the first real-world application of quantum computing, and we're excited to see where it leads.

A must watch. 👌 On Steve Jobs by Garry Tan.
Some key personal takeaways from the video.
- Build for your own urgent desire, not for a forecast or focus group; when you obsess over something that doesn’t yet exist, you create the demand by revealing it.
- Treat the startup journey as a maze, not a straight road; when you slam into a wall, pivot instead of defending the original plan, because each detour may reveal the real breakthrough.
- Accept that success evaporates if you cling to yesterday’s formulas; the world moves, so you must move faster.
- Fuse art and engineering inside one mind; every “useless” curiosity—from calligraphy to storytelling—can become the differentiator that competitors cannot copy.
- Let work and life blur into one driving fascination, because when your passion and profession converge, failure just becomes data for the next iteration.
As a teen, Steve Jobs hacked the telephone network. Billions of $ of infrastructure at his fingertips.
Phone phreaking taught Steve Jobs the mindset that helped him endure failure (being fired from Apple), walk the idea maze (NeXT and Pixar) and eventually build the iPhone.

Using 3D imaging, NIST researchers can digitally represent objects and mathematically manipulate them without damaging or altering the physical object.
We asked @hyperindexed about how @PalantirTech helps customers navigate the threat of tariffs.
"These system shocks test the state of your software. Customers come to us when they feel trapped by the rigidity of their existing systems structure."
"(We are not offering) a magic wand to automatically fix everything. Instead, we can give you an OS where you can be the pilot, set conditions, test things and be on the front foot."
So let’s just get this crystal clear.
If somebody is trying to manufacture a laptop in the U.S., the components that they import are going to be tariffed at 145%.
But if somebody simply makes the laptop entirely in China, they are fully tariff free?
And this is all to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.?
Fantastic graphic from the WSJ. Trump just increased the price of a iPhone by nearly 60 percent. Obviously completely unsustainable so won’t be sustained. An American Liz Truss moment
it's super fun seeing people love images in chatgpt.
but our GPUs are melting.
we are going to temporarily introduce some rate limits while we work on making it more efficient. hopefully won't be long!

Morgan Stanley: Samsung Electronics – we expect it to be the major beneficiary of China's increased AI capex:
Currently, Samsung accounts for around 40% of HBM market share with 80-90% market share among ASIC customers. For Nvidia products, it is the sole supplier for H20 vs. SK hynix's HBM revenue contribution, which comes from mostly non-Chinese customers.
As market expectations of Samsung's HBM revenue growth in 1Q25 are already lower at -50~60% QoQ per company guidance and do not include additional H20 demand in 1Q, we believe the 1H25 orders could provide upside potential to its top-line growth.
