When software was expensive - thin, horizontal, best-of-breed software stacks extracted rents across every business.
Now that software is cheap - value moves to vertically integrated businesses that deliver opinionated end-to-end experiences.
This was a real case from Germany.
A surgeon accidentally cut his left hand with a scalpel while removing a malignant abdominal tumour called a fibrous histiocytoma.
Five months later, a new tumour appeared at the site of the surgeon’s injured hand. Molecular testing confirmed the impossible: the surgeon had developed the same type of tumour as the patient.
Histopathological and DNA analyses showed the tumour to be genetically identical to the patient’s original cancer, indicating direct implantation of tumour cells into the wound.
The surgeon’s tumour was successfully removed. Two years later, he remained well, with no evidence of recurrence or spread.
With sharps injuries, we worry about blood-borne infections. But in exceptionally rare cases, cancer cells can also seed and implant into the wound.

Virtue Games vs. Success Games
The author's prognosis is spot on: fertility rate is collapsing because being a mother in modern society is low status.
He puts forth a plan that could revive virtue games, but I'm more concerned with the latter - "how do we establish having children as a marker of success?"
I love diverse melting pots, but they will go extinct if we stop having kids in them.
Raising kids, and especially teaching kids, is much harder than most jobs - and especially in a city context - is closest in effort to running a demanding business (and one where failure is truly not an option).
How do we change culture so that it is appreciated as such?
I want to live in a world where a city mom can proudly say so when asked the tired, “What do you do?"
You can feel Naseeruddin Shah's pain, anguish and anger over what was done to the students on Monday in central Delhi in this interview with @kthaparoffice. He doesn't mince words, and deserves highest respect for being a conscientious public personality.

How a simple 15-minute walk after dinner alters your cellular mechanics. 🚶♀️
Most people crash after dinner and scroll. Big mistake.
Here’s the hidden machinery at work when you move right after eating:
Your skeletal muscles contract → trigger GLUT4 transporters to the cell surface → act as a powerful “glucose sink.”
Blood sugar gets rapidly pulled into working muscles without needing a huge insulin surge.
Result? Stable energy, no late-night crash, better overnight fat burning, and lower inflammation.
This free habit is one of the most powerful tools for metabolic health.
Action Plan:
After your next dinner, lace up and walk 10-15 minutes.
Make it non-negotiable.
How soon after eating do you usually move? 👇
