New — Thomas Massie tells me he won’t vote for Mike Johnson on Jan. 3.
There are Rs who are non-committal on Johnson, but Massie appears to the first who publicly says he won’t vote for him.
“He doesn’t have my vote,” Massie says of Johnson, who has little margin for error to win the speaker’s race
Says it would take a “Christmas miracle” to vote for him.
Massie, who backed MTG’s past failed effort to oust Johnson, cites the speaker’s handling of the spending bill. MTG has indicated she will support Johnson on Jan. 3.
NEW from @doug_sword: House Budget Chair and W&M member Jodey Arrington says “momentum” exists among House Republicans to launch 2025 with a skinny budget reconciliation bill on border security that is fully paid for followed by a sweeping tax bill: https://t.co/jXer85k68f
- Lokalvalg i New Jersey og Virginia

“Overall, the correlation between each county's margin in 2020 compared with 2024 was .995 on a scale of -1 to 1 — a near-perfect positive association (...).”
President-elect Donald Trump is considering Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a possible replacement for Pete Hegseth, his pick to run the Pentagon, according to people familiar with the discussions https://t.co/Ws30WKj57L
BREAKING: Democrat Adam Gray wins election to U.S. House in California's 13th Congressional District, beating incumbent John Duarte. #APRaceCall at 12:51 a.m. EST. https://t.co/FjgpZFcJ4E
In the Philly suburbs, the key battleground in the biggest swing state, 201 of 238 towns shifted more Republican from 2020 to 2024. Only 32 became more Democratic. Story and charts with @JuliaTerruso and @KatieJ_Bernard https://t.co/wYDmee0ZP5
I så fald vil Demokraterne have vundet 215 sæder - marginal fremgang ift.
San Joaquin County just reported all its remaining unprocessed ballots, and Adam Gray (D) extended his lead over Rep. John Duarte (R) to 231 votes. I estimate only ~100 ballots in #CA13 are still unprocessed, so if Duarte is gonna win, he'll have to do it via cures or a recount.
Merced & Stanislaus counties reported almost all their remaining votes today, and Adam Gray (D) now leads Rep. John Duarte (R) by 182 votes in #CA13.
I estimate there are about 800 unprocessed ballots left, mostly in Fresno & San Joaquin, which report tomorrow.
Rep. Steel led by 58 votes as of last night.
GOP is sure to have the House majority; question is final margin. As of now, they've won or lead in 221 districts.
I'd estimate roughly 11K left in OC, & plus a much smaller batch of ballots in blue Los Angeles. More Monday.

🚨 🚨BREAKING NEWS FROM @PunchbowlNews :
Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-Fla.) resignation from Congress came two days before the House Ethics Committee was set to vote on releasing a “highly damaging” report outlining its investigation into the Republican, according to multiple sources familiar with the probe.
The committee planned to vote Friday on releasing the report. Ethics loses its jurisdiction over Gaetz when he leaves Congress.
The secretive panel has been investigating Gaetz on and off since 2021.
President-elect Donald Trump announced that he would nominate Gaetz to be attorney general Wednesday.
