🧵on #Iraq water crisis:
1/ Only a fraction of land can still be farmed in Al Fao. Where agri lands once were is a crusty layer of white salt extending in each direction. Once world famous for dates, the palm trees which are left no longer bear fruit.

In response to a query about an Israeli tank firing on a car in Gaza, the Israeli military told the Wall Street Journal that it "was not shown any proof that this is a civilian car, and there's no information on who is inside." That's a complete distortion of the laws of war.
🚩New @amnesty investigation found that #Israel-i army indiscriminately, and therefore unlawfully, used white phosphorous in an attack on Dhayra in south #Lebanon on 16 October. The attack must be investigated as a war crime.

The leader of Hamas and the spokesperson for Al Qassam Brigades again reiterated last night that they would release all Israeli hostages in Gaza if Israel releases all 5000+ Palestinian prisoners.
This man, standing behind the Health Ministry spokesperson during the first press conference in Gaza since the bombing of the cell towers, is gesturing to assure his family members outside of Gaza that he is safe. With telecommunications cut off, this is literally the only way people in Gaza can communicate with their loved ones.
The video released yesterday by Israel announcing "intent to destroy one of the biggest hospitals in Gaza, Al-Shifaa, claiming that under it is an elaborate web of tunnels operated by Hamas."
Both Jawwal and the Palestinian Red Crescent have been completely cut off from telecommunication. It means not even the ambulance services can work properly. IDF spox said they are "expanding" their ground operations tonight.
The US sent a Marine 3star general to #Israel to advise the military leadership ahead of the ground operation in #Gaza. The Marine Corps officers sent include Lt. Gen. James Glynn, who previously headed special operations and was involved in the operations against ISIS in Iraq.
Israel reportedly dropping leaflets in Gaza warning that any Palestinian civilian who "chooses not to evacuate from the north of the Strip to the south may be identified as a partner in a terrorist organization."
Most foreign correspondents for major media outlets - myself included - have the luxury of being able to leave an assignment when things get too dangerous. Every photo + video in our news media from Gaza this week is taken by someone who cannot escape. https://t.co/2AvEF43fNY
The region is literally boiling. Mobile protest of thousands of vehicles head to US embassy in Beirut. Jordanians tried to break into US embassy earlier meanwhile dozens of protests took it streets in Middle East and Europe following the strike against Ahli Baptist Hospital #hospital #LeoTickets #SpeakerOfTheHouseVote #tuesdayvibe #Gaza_Genocide
A first version of this tweet included the live feed footage of rocket launches from Gaza.
It has now been removed because the timestamp on the feed does not match the reported time of the explosion at the hospital.
Either I'm missing something or every channel sharing this footage is. The video at the top showcases what appears to be a misfire of a rocket that was launched at Israel by Palestinian militants during a barrage targeting major Israeli cities.
However, the timestamp is 19:59. The first report I've found of the hospital being hit was at 19:36 on a Palestinian Telegram channel. Therefore, this alleged misfire could not have been responsible for the rocket/missile that hit the hospital.
A video broadcasted by Cairo News TV channel at the moment of the attack shows the destruction of the concrete wall built by the army in front of the Egyptian gate.

“Supporting Gaza? Think twice.”
Israeli occupation forces raid a Palestinian shop, orders the accountant to unlock his phone to check for any posts supporting Gaza on his Facebook.
Subsequently, they proceed to arrest him.
