Last night, I wanted to fix the tyre, but it was almost Magrib time.

Quickly branched at a mosque by the road side, smelling like the solution to world hunger, but ended up shoulder to shoulder and led by guys who work very hard in filth.

The stench of their sweat was raw, and that of their clothes, but we embraced pretty closely, because we all are humans.

Nothing reminds you more of the vanity of life. No one says my grave would be finer than theirs or smell better.

Everyday, I’m glad Islam reminds me of who I am: a dust, and one day to be returned to that.

Last year, I set a simple goal: buy this monitor. But life kept redirecting me with unexpected responsibilities and financial curveballs.

By June, I even paused the dream entirely to secure an apartment and if you know Ibadan, you know house hunting is now an extreme sport. Furnishing? Even worse. I wanted a fresh start, so 90% of everything in my apartment, I bought them brand new: new house, new things, new financial heartbreak. And mind you, I was still a corper at the time; I didn’t finish NYSC until August.

But yesterday reminded me of something important: delays aren’t denials. The money finally came again, and this time, nothing snatched it away. I got the monitor at last. And honestly? I’m proud of this little win. 🙏✨
