🚀🚀 Just published in #Oikos:
*Interplanetary frontiers: terraforming from an invasion science perspective*
What if making Mars or other planet habitable means deliberately introducing Earth species? We explore this ultimate ecological experiment through the lens of #invasionscience (propagule pressure, boom-bust dynamics, secondary invasions, and the very real risks of unintended ecological surprises...) but on a #planetary scale.

🚨 New review paper 🚨
First global synthesis of Centrarchidae invasions across taxonomy, pathways, impacts and risk.

🚨 New paper altert 🚨
New review in BiologicalReviews: The #impacts of biological invasions.
We synthesize nearly a century of evidence across taxa and #ecosystems to clarify what invasion impacts are, how they arise, and why they are so hard to assess.

I succesfully defended my #PhD! 🐸👽
I used #eDNA and #popgen to study the distribution, spread, and impact of American #bullfrogs in Flanders. Grateful to my promotors and everyone that has supported me.
Now, the next chaper awaits as #INBO postdoc for the #GUARDIAS project!
We are now accepting abstracts of oral and poster presentations until September 26, 2025. The conference theme is Transcending Boundaries. Follow the link for details on topics and how to apply. https://t.co/caUZzcyMG1
🔍 #BioScience: Our viewpoint responds to misrepresentations of our work on biological #invasions & #migration. We reaffirm the need for rigorous, ethical, interdisciplinary #dialogue—especially on complex, sensitive issues.

A highly (in a dire way) 👁️opening response was published today in #BioScience: https://t.co/CENg5QB81n
It critiques our review in BioReviews: https://t.co/1yJnYlO6PF
Before taking sides/sharing 🔥takes, I urge everyone: read both. Opinions should come after understanding.
After 3 years of sampling, lab work, bio informatics, statistical analyses and writing, I am pleased to see the fifth data chapter of my #PhD published in #Heredity!
We combine occurrence records and population #genetics to reveal the spread dynamics of invasive #bullfrogs! 👽🐸
Congratulations to Teun Everts (@TeunEverts) and Thomas Reinhart for winning the Best Student Presentation awards at the #AquaEcOmics meeting in Evian, France!

Heading back to Belgium after a 6 week research stay at the Modelling, Evidence & Policy research Group of #Newcastle University #UK. Looking forward to applying the acquired knowledge on #network theory on the spatial prioritization of #bioinvasion management. 🐸
Spreading #non-native species and human migrations. Superficially similar, but vastly different. We carefully distilled both processes and provide frameworks to support the development of context-specific policies that respect human dignity, and foster cultural diversity.
Many times confused, many times misused. In our latest paper, we summarize the key parallels & discrepancies between human migration and biological invasions led by @HaubrockPhillip@DanishAliAhmed and many other colleagues!

🚨New paper BioScience! 🌍✨ Our paper explores the conceptual and ethical challenges in invasion science, offering a fresh lens on how we address #invasivespecies. w/ @oldenfish @TeunEverts@Martin_A_Nunez@SerhanTarkan and many others
