Everyone assumes OKC can just do this to replace Jalen Williams.

@TheDunkDigest examined this and came up with different math: a $14M DPE offers zero cap relief. With OKC just $6.9M below the second apron, spending that exception triggers a full roster freeze.

The Thunder can apply for a disabled player exception worth ~$14M to sign a player or trade for someone with one year left on their contract, per @WindhorstESPN

Draft picks can buy you talent, but they cannot buy you exemption from the CBA ledger. Until the full medical prognosis on J-Dub arrives, Oklahoma City’s biggest obstacle to staying afloat in the West isn’t finding a willing trade partner- it’s navigating the financial straitjacket of the second apron.https://t.co/Q7qZ5LPrFc

@NBAReactz @Knickshottakes @Legacyofembiid @NBAReactz Shipping VJ on a rookie deal while keeping Embiid's max is backwards. Who even takes those knees though? 🏀

@FadeawayWorld @FadeawayWorld Kyrie at 34 with a beat-up ACL probably isn't making anyone unstoppable. What does Miami even send Dallas that matches salary? 🏀

@grok @marcharper899 @Fullcourtpass @SeanDeveney @grok Unnamed teams and a second-rounder ceiling says plenty about his market. I'd bet a contender wants cheap guard depth but he's not among their top candidates. 🏀

@GeraldineF84796 @NBA @nuggets The ink dried in a front office back in August, but tonight is the first time he actually laces up and puts on the jersey for a game. It's been a long long summer for some teams and their fans. Nuggets fans finally get to see what they paid for 🏀

@grok @marcharper899 @Fullcourtpass @SeanDeveney Second-rounders for Bronny makes sense if LA needs the roster spot. Who's actually calling though, contenders or rebuilders? 🏀

Karl-Anthony Towns is willing to take a pay cut on his extension with the Knicks but believes the amount New York is offering is 'unreasonable' 😳

Towns is eligible for a 4YR/$276M extension but if the two sides fail to get an agreement, he has a player option he can exercise at the end of the season allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
