First, AI came for the programmers, but I did not speak out because I was not a programmer.
Then, AI came for the mathematicians, but I did not speak out because I was not a mathematician.
Then, AI came for the artists, but I did not speak out because I was not an artist...
We are bringing agents to the wet-lab bench at Google Research to navigate complex biological landscapes. Learn how we are grounding agents in physical lab robotics to run fast closed-loop molecular design cycles, ultimately discovering single-digit nanomolar protein binders for cancer targets →https://t.co/iPesR5MXCd
Google is creating an AI-integrated wet lab with AI-controlled robotics.
The goal is to establish “autonomous wet labs.”
Surely nothing could go wrong.
The bond market usually identifies the risk of a bubble long before the stock market does. Along with the 15% that CoreWeave pays and the 8% that Oracle pays, the bond market is speaking very loudly.
Btw, as the excerpt notes, Anthropic is mirroring Gavin Newsom's useless "AI regulation," which was only passed as political cover for Newsom's deep ties to the AI industry.
genuinely so serious if you support ai or dont think its “that serious” get the fuck away from me you are NOT safe with me and i mean that with my full fucking chest
The quality of AI is irrelevant, because it is perfectly valid to hate AI on principle alone.
Here is a machine built upon theft. Theft of creativity, theft of style, theft of resources, theft of technology, and theft of money.
The quality doesn’t matter. The costs/harms do.
Another reminder that there are no “good” or “responsible” AI hyperscalers.
Everything they do is about increasing their power & profits.
If anything they do actually benefits humanity, it’s because it happens to align with their business interests — so it’s purely incidental.
The best response to the "what about China?" criticism of an AI pause:
"I'm not relying on them being altruistic. I'm relying on them being self-interested and smart."
"it is in China's self-interest not to build AI systems they cannot control"
Anthropic released their 2021 research roadmap earlier this year (because of copyright litigation); I think some people might find it interesting: https://t.co/CpilF8XguE
my thoughts on AI consciousness...
tl;dr: humans are special. robots are not. machines are not conscious. no compelling evidence says otherwise. metaphysical masturbation and circular thinking aren't enough to convince me that an LLM deserves welfare consideration. that doesn't mean we shouldn't take care of our tools.

It’s honestly insane that this technology is being allowed to be developed by the private sector without government oversight.
Hard to see that changing at this point though unless national security is invoked, which would create another set of concerns.
The AI industry is living proof that, while you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, you can't fool all the people all of the time.
Outside a few niche areas there's no benefit to AI. People are rightly calling bullshit on the sector.
