The Life Prize unites researchers in a unique way to develop a one-month (or less) treatment regimen for all types of TB, which works for everyone, everywhere.
Good to see the focus on “global good access practices” for
innovation in health, including principles such as
impact, affordability, effectiveness, efficiency and
equity in the @WHO Stronger collaboration, better health report https://t.co/NfxKAJ0SVN
We can not #EndTB without new investments in #TB R&D. This investment needs to come now to ensure the drugs in early development make it to the regimens of the future #UNHLMTB
TB Alliance President and CEO Mel Spigelman addresses #UNGA74 side event on #tuberculosis, discussing the importance of research and development and progress made in developing new TB treatments. #EndTB#UNHLMTB@StopTB@WHO
.@PeterASands is spot on: Ending #TB is a scale game. We won’t end it with small pilot projects. Need to dramatically speed and scale up TB innovation. #TBIS19#endTB@TheUnion_TBLH
@BertieSquire affordability is a barrier (but not the only!) to access. Ensuring transparency of funding from public or philanthropic and looking at R&D models that build affordability into the development pathway helps with this barrier.
These are easily achievable targets and would go a long way to closing the TB R&D funding gaps and give us the tools to #endtb. @GlobalTBCaucus .@TAGTeam_Tweets
“Each country should spend only 0,1% of its global expenses in R&D for the research on TB to reach the anual aims of the @GlobalFund” says José Carlos Veloso @BTbcab#CCAPTBBrasil#EndTB@GlobalFund
Really interesting view of drug development from the FDA regarding medical innovation - current system dis-incentivises collaboration and results in unaffordable products. https://t.co/HFUx9ZTyjO Time to rethink the way we incentivise R&D! @TAGTeam_Tweets
Fantastic News! A new drug developed as part of a new regimen which has the potential to immediately change the lives of those with XDR-TB. Congratulations .@TBAlliance!!
The need to change R&D is being debated at the UN Human Rights Council - access to treatment is a right. https://t.co/74fsVrGt79. @TAGTeam_Tweets. @HealthPolicyW
The #UN High-Level Meeting on TB is just the beginning of the fight to #EndTB. Now that the Declaration has been endorsed by #UNGA we need action. @BillGates reminded us that accelerated R&D will be critical if we hope to make progress against the world’s top infectious killer.
The historic and first-ever #UNHLMTB is now underway. The proceedings have opened with the approval of the political declaration. The #TB world is waiting for commitment to concrete action to #EndTB
#Tuberculosis is the world’s most deadly infectious disease, accounting for 1.6m lives annually. Today's #UNHLMTB provides a vital platform to build momentum to #EndTB. Continue this work at #UnionConf – new solutions, new dialogues. https://t.co/osFy3P4cmP
Lots to think about in an interesting presentation on #TB, innovation and @TheLifePrize from @TBbrigden. Also good see how many Dutch organisations are involved in iniatives to combat #Tuberculosis. #ourmedicinesourright
