๐จ SUPER HARD PASS ๐จ
His 26% SO Rate in NPB translates to like 30-34% MLB.
Average defender in NPB which will be a negative OAA in MLB
He's super vulnerable to high velo pitchers.
He slashes like .221/.294/.375 75 wrc+ vs LHP.
15-18AAV plus like a 20% fee to buy him out?
He's essentially an expensive Asian Luke Raley ๐
"Can you trade for an all-star infielder?"
Geraldo Perdomo is literally an All-Star shortstop entering his age-27 season who just put up a .370 OBP with +16 OAA defense.
โBrice Turang, Maikel Garcia, and Otto Lopez are all 26โ27 and under multi-year team control.
Nobody is talking about signing 35-year-old DH castoffs; I'm talking about trading surplus pitching for prime-age everyday starters.
Whoa ๐คฏ ๐ If Chris Antonetti traded Steven Kwan for a platoon bat with a 30% K rate and our #14 prospect, heโd be fired before the press release finished printing.
โArozarena was a mid-season salary dump when Randy was batting .211. Cleveland is trying to win the division next year; they aren't giving away their heartbeat leadoff hitter for Luke Raley.
The 1996 Seattle SuperSonics werenโt just another team Jordan beat in the Finals.
They were ELITE.
64โ18.
No. 1 seed in the West.
38โ3 at home.
No. 2 defense in the NBA.
No. 2 in SRS.
Gary Payton: DPOY + All-NBA.
Shawn Kemp: All-NBA.
Then came the playoffs:
Swept Hakeem and the defending champion Rockets, 4โ0.
Beat the 60-win Stockton/Malone Jazz, 4โ3.
Won the Western Conference.
And even after falling behind Chicago 3โ0, they fought back to 3โ2 before the 72-win Bulls finished them in Game 6.
That wasnโt weak competition.
That was a 64-win powerhouse running into a 72-win dynasty.
There are levels to this.
@RET_423 Do you even remember why you showed up after an hour and a half wait. Was it because the stop sign on Maple was covered by a tree branch?
Jesus, you maga retards just find any reason to whine.
๐ ๐ ๐ you right, you right...
I thought AI would summerize my data correctly and it didn't. I have this model pretty dialed in but it certainly shafted me there.
I have so many metrics gates and season spans incorporated inside this model, I really should triple check it every time but for the sake of conversation in motion I just winged it.
I'm still not double checking it ๐ I'm just saying now out these guys in your own "big board" of targets.
@DangeRoss74@BrashFan We're gonna have 25-30M this off-season and we have decent prospects we can trade or aquire in free agency proven bats and +OAA infield. This lineup rolls the dice on rookies and lacks any depth ๐
Cash "float" in baseball terms takes into account all those dynamic variables. So 25m is conservative even with arbs. We have plenty even without ownership throwing some more in.
I agree with your critique but you are missing so many players that are doing some of what I think you're talking about even when considering park factor variables.
Geraldo Perdomo
Mauricio Dubรณn
Javier Sanoja
Maikel Garcia
These are probably trade/FA acquisitions with minimal prospect loss.
I don't mind that either but Mariners aren't known for developing bats. Our model should be trading some of prospect depth at pitching/batting to teams who can develop them for controllable proven position players who can jump into the lineup tomorrow and produce. I'm tired of Jerry's type of platoons... There is a far better way to rotate, rest and use analytics but it starts with having more versatile player depth.
