KAPEEKA INDUSTRIAL PARK

The master plan for Kapeeka Industrial Park projects a total capacity of 80 factories. 34 factories are currently operational. From an initial goal of 50 products, the park now manufactures over 1,000 distinct items | #UMCImpactStories

Comrades, good morning. That video of our 73 class loco was bad. The sight, terrible.

However, this will not be for long. As communicated before, money came, Courtesy of @GovUganda and the @AfDB_Group.

With part of the funds, we are going to do the following.

1. Remove all settlers from URC land, from Kampala - Kyengera (including that section where the locomotive was captured), Kampala- Portbell, Kampala-Namanve-Mukonk-Jinja-Malaba.

When all is done, these sections are going to be clear of all settlement.

2. After removal of encroachment, cleaning and greening will be done along the corridors especially in the built-up areas in Kampala, Wakiso, Jinja, etc. There will be zero garbage along the corridor. Cattle roaming and interrupting train movements will be dealt with fully.

3. All built-up sections of the reserve will be fenced. Experience has shown that anything metallic used in fencing is stolen in the country. We are taking a different route to mitigate this.

4. On the Locos, yes they are old. New locos are coming. The procurement process is ongoing.

The passenger train is old. Yes, very true. The funds are also going towards acquiring at least 2 DMUs.

With the DMUs, we also plan to have EMUs procured and deployed. The funders have been identified.

There comes a time when we must pause and ask ourselves: what kind of Tooro do we desire?

You cannot say you love the baby and then throw it away with the dirty water. Right now, we are doing exactly that, dragging the Tooro we claim to love down the drain.

We are a proud people with norms and traditions that teach us dignity, restraint and respect. Baragirakiki reminds us that even in difficult times, we can conduct ourselves with discipline and decorum.

Right now, we are falling short.

Let us self-regulate. Share less of what embarrasses the institution. Resist heated narratives. Comment less, listen more and lower the temperature.

We are not opposing teams.

There is only one team: TEAM TOORO.

Let us never sacrifice our culture, values and customs at the altar of social media likes and petty divisions. Our disagreements must never become greater than our love for Tooro.

Let history remember us not for the noise we made, but for the wisdom we showed when Tooro needed us most.

And right now, the call is clear: let us rally behind our new King and unite around Kujumura Empango on 29th September.

Let all our energy, goodwill and efforts go towards making it a success and marking this new chapter with the dignity, unity and respect it deserves.

Let us also stop speculating about positions and titles. His Majesty the King will make those decisions, in his wisdom and at the appropriate time. Let us give him that space and respect the Crown.
