I have coached thousands of US youth players.

One major issue I see is that they play vertically toward the goal even when the odds are ridiculously low of success.

If our Federation 🇺🇸 @ussoccer is insisting on “directional” training we are reinforcing one of the worst habits in youth players. Thus, we make the problem worse.

▪️Proposed Solution:

Recognize this issue and reinforce multi-directional solutions so that our players recognize that the game is indeed not a one way street. It will require us rethinking and redesigning our curriculum to nurture greater vision, better decisions and precision.

🗣️Creativity does not come from insistence, it comes from intelligence.

@SenBrianJones Brian, it is why I left. The baseline for life is so much higher in California. That compounds across all areas of life. It was a sad decision to leave as my family is all native to the state going back to before the Great Depression.

@ChadBianco I hope you do. But I don’t think your efforts will make the state affordable again. It will take decades to fix that issue. Once you leave like I have your realize how expensive California is and policy changes will take years to adjust. Good luck.

@SteveHiltonx My wife is a fifth generation Californian and I am a fourth generation Californian. We could not take it anymore. We did leave. I wish your efforts luck. Our life in the southeast of the country is simpler, cheaper, and more fulfilling as we get to spend more time with family
