Scientists have identified a natural microbial process that can help clean up nuclear contamination.
In a study published in Nature Communications, researchers report that bacteria living in the contaminated water of a flooded former uranium mine in Germany can neutralize toxic uranium. When supplied with glycerol as a carbon source under low-oxygen conditions, these microbes convert highly soluble and toxic uranium into a rare, stable solid compound known as FeU(V)O4.
Over a 130-day period the bacteria removed approximately 95 percent of the dissolved uranium from the water samples, incorporating it into solid minerals within their cell walls.
This biological mechanism offers a promising alternative to conventional water-treatment methods, which are often costly and generate hazardous secondary waste. Because the uranium is locked into a stable solid form that remains intact even when exposed to oxygen, the process could provide a more sustainable approach to environmental remediation.
Uranium contamination continues to affect groundwater in regions of the United States, Canada, Australia, and elsewhere. The researchers therefore see potential for adapting this bioremediation strategy to help secure polluted waterways around the world.

@Google@googledevs language plus do not tie it with regional settings, may be a user wants local contents but in English so I may select a specific country but also the language as well. Thanks

Hi Google I know you are a technology Giant and pointing out something on you is just like to show a lamp to the Sun. However, I would like to share a user experience which creates a big frustration for millions of people.

@Google@googledevs My suggestion is either make the language settings in the user profile so from wherever I am accessing your pages, I am served as per my profile language or make the language button quite visible at top so anyone can switch the
