Our lab @StJudeResearch is recruiting! We have postdoc and technician positions available.
Please apply (links below) if you’re interested in neural differentiation and maturation during brain development and disease focusing on novel concepts of mRNA and cytoskeletal regulation
If you are at SfN don’t miss the Cajal Club sponsored social tonight!!!
6:45-8:45 pm MCP Room N139. With special guests and a special tribute to Dennis O’Leary.
Please join to meet old and new colleagues and friends!
I am looking for a technician to work in my lab in beautiful Sioux Falls. We have really exciting projects related to embryonic brain development and neurodegeneration. We use: mouse models, CRISPR, microscopy and omics analyses. Send me a DM or reply to the ad in 🧵. Please RT
I am thrilled to share our new publication!! Using mice, organoids, live imaging and biochemistry, we show the RNA binding protein EIF4A3 directly binds and controls microtubules to promote axon growth. Thanks to super talented @alsina_fc and an outstanding team of collaborators!
Happy to share our work about how neurons re-utilize gene expression regulators to directly control cytoskeletal dynamics. We found that the nucleating component of the Exon Junction Complex, EIF4A3, acts non-canonically as a microtubule-binding protein to regulate axonal growth.
I'm thrilled to announce that the Irala lab is now open at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital @StJudeResearch! We'll investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of astrocyte-neuron communication and how synaptic balance is achieved and maintained during brain development
Exciting news and opportunity to work with a fantastic scientist and mentor!! It was wonderful to have you in my lab these past years and I am so excited for all the future discoveries from the Alsina lab!
I am thrilled to share that I have joined @StJudeResearch as a faculty member. The Alsina lab is now open and studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms of brain development in health and disease, with focus on RNA and cytoskeleton regulation.
I am thrilled and honored to receive this Javits Award from @NIH_NINDS, and incredibly grateful to all past and present members of my lab, as well as my mentors and colleagues in the field! @DukeMGM@DukeNeuro@DukeCellBiology#radialglia
Debra Silver, PhD, has been honored with the 2024 Javits Award from @NIH for her groundbreaking work on intellectual disability and autism. Her research on radial glia cells continues to illuminate the complexities of neurological disorders. @TheSilverLab
