@ToryFibs Until 2024, no party left of Labour had ever won more than one seat in England. It was seen as highly unlikely. Now you have many polls suggesting that the Greens might even end up with more MPs than Labour at the next election.
Who knows where we'll be in 2029
Mayor Zohran Mamdani mocks Ronald Reagan’s infamous quote.
“I can think of nine words more terrifying than ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help…’”
“I worked all day and can’t feed my family.”
@24_2news@siennamarla A failed economic model= over reliance on oil and gas, on not investing in public transport and renewables etc. Why do you think the economy is separate to the environment?
@bristol_citizen@Glutenfreescone If I were you I'd stick to the rational criticisms, i.e. how will you do rent controls in a local election. That was completely fair. This stuff? Well, we all know its desperate.
@Hat60963477@jimthegiant Unions who defend workers rights in the workplace, government sponsored immigration visas like @NeilForPoole is pushing in parliament. Immigrants with worse working conditions create a race to the bottom which affects all workers.
@Darius1296@jimthegiant The left supports and are part of the organisations that will actually get you those higher wages though- they are called unions.
@HerzinLord@LeftyWinter Because money is power, and he doesnt want to surrender his power to do something about taxing billionaires. Why would you unilaterally disarm while leaving all other billionaires with their money and influence intact?
@maggiejet@benjamin197780@PolitlcsUK I'd prefer to avoid rent than taxes; because at least taxes get you something in society.
As for charity, I want money spent where its needed-on meeting peoples basic needs. Not where wealthy people want it spent.
@EnfieldAction Sean is the son of Karin Smyth MP, who is in Wes Streetings Health team. Recently was interviewed saying she "couldnt rule out" banning doctors from going on strike.
@benjamin197780@PolitlcsUK You agree because you need to eat, not because they are fair terms. Holding a gun to someones head and they'll agree to less than they are worth.
Give everyone universal basic income and watch how people suddenly get a lot pickier about the jobs they'll do.
